We had a fantastic stay. Hotel is great, located just outside the center so quiet but directly lakeside with a nice terrace. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Restaurant had great food. Possibility to rent kayaks from the hotel.

I stayed 5 nights at Mikaso with Daniel and his absolutely lovely staff, including the adorable cats, and cannot wait to go back! Although San Pedro is a "party town", Mikaso is a lovely space to relax. Located just out of the main tourist area by a 10 minute walk (or cheap tuktuk), there were still numerous restaurants and facilities right there. (Try a massage and bath at LosThermales!) The light sounds wafting in from town were not a distraction and if I wanted to stay out late, they give you a key to quietly return on your own schedule. Right on the lake, the views are incredible and the amount of stars you can see from the rooftop are innumerable. I did need the provided fan, but air conditioning isn't needed with the breeze off the lake. I can't say enough about how awesome the staff is. Not just helpful and caring, they were all very sweet, accommodating, and some *ahem* even funny!

The showering rooms weren’t particularly clean and filled with bugs however you are within nature so can’t really complain just something to be aware of. Quite hard to find down a winding alleyway which is filled with dog poo, also not their fault but at night this can be troublesome.

The gardens around the property were very nice, and the staff extremely friendly. The private room was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We had to move rooms after one night due to an overbooking which didn’t bother us as the quality of the rooms didn’t change however they still redeemed us €10 for the inconvenience which was nice. The property also has a dog and a new kitten which we loved. There was free breakfast and free drinking water. A small walk out of the centre.

The access of the hotel is not easy and nice,. unfortunately this is something out of the control of the hotel.

1. Daniel, the manager of the hotel is a nice person and a great host. That also applies to his cats. 2. The hotel has a restaurant in the same building, it's a GREAT restaurant with very fair prices compared to the quality of the dishes (are amazing) 3. It has a shared kitchen so we had the opportunity to cook our breakfast everyday.

We had a good time at Mikaso hotel. The property is beautiful with stunning views of the lake and the mountains. It’s a very chill place and well located. Not a party hotel/hostel at all which was great to relax, but it’s close enough to the main area where the bars/restaurants are and it’s easy to walk around (or you can take a tuk tuk). I only had breakfast at the restaurant in the rooftop one time and it was very good. I felt safe staying there and walking around the area even in the evening. The staff is also very nice and friendly. I would stay there again.

It was all great. If making your own way there it might be hard to find, but this is not a negative - just something to note. I suggest looking up the short walk in advance unless you have mobile data or a map - or just ask around.

The hotel has a policy of only cleaning rooms if you ask. I completely understand the environmental reasons, but I think the toilet bins need emptying every day as a baseline.

Great location -it’s at the quieter end of the town, v easy to walk into the main area, with lots of good cafes & restaurants nearby. Excellent roof terrace overlooking lake with clean & comfy sun loungers & a spacious well equipped communal kitchen. Good hot showers.

Beautiful located at lake Atitlan!! The place to be. We had a big room with three windows facing sun rise and that was a great experience. The hotel provides a warm welcome, has several places to sit outside. It does not have the newest bath room or decorations, but it all functioned (hot water in the shower!), and the place was very clean. We had our own terrace, also facing the lake. Upon booking, the owner said that he could arrange door to door transportation. We were very happy with that as we arrived on Friday afternoon at L'Aurora and the traffic was extreme. There is a rooftop restaurant (check the opening hours) 'gato perdido', also with beautiful views. Good food and drinks. Some reviewers mentioned that you cannot swim here but you can. No beach life but a little jetty. Although two people are doing their laundry in the lake, it is crystal clear water. Don't you swim in the Pacific Ocean because there are oil tanker ships? It's a five minute walk to the harbour, and one minute to laundry street.

Wonderful location right on the lake. Walkable or quick tuk tuk ride, to everything you need. Thankful for the filtered water and the washer and dryer. Daniel and his staff were very kind and welcoming.
