When we left in the morning we had to go back in for something left in room, however you use the side door as front to bar is closed and with what seemed to only be one member of staff and the door locked there was no way back into the hotel, when phoning the number it takes you to the call center not the hotel so then had to start walking round and knocking windows and the front door to get the girls attention to let us back in. I think a door lock with code at the side would be good or a very loud bell so someone can hear.

I love the location of this hotel with free parking laid to the left hand side through a small passage, I have visited since it renovations started . I was the only person in the hotel with no kitchen or Bar (actually think they forgot to cancel my booking so just made up a bed for me as the room had no carpets , wall heater was off wall etc, tapes in bathroom falling off, but they were so kind told me where to go to eat and how to get about they still made my stay worth it .. Next time there was a bar area, no kitchen but the room was ok, this time although still not completed , the bar area was more completed with a singer that night and a games area. I do think we may have been the only two rooms but again great location , the rooms no 2 and 3 were really comfortable not finished I would say but I see improvements every 6 months.

We stayed in room 15 on the top floor, which was fine the first night, but the lift broke on the following day so I struggled a little as I have arthritis in my knee. However the room was quite small (very cosy), the windows didn't open (probably due to the fact that it is an old building) and so at night it was really warm, there was a floor standing fan in there (which explains that) but to be honest it was a little cramped to be able to have that on safely during the night (especially if you need the loo in the night). There was no storage at all so nowhere in the bathroom (not even a shelf) to put toiletries etc, and no wardrobe due to the room being small just hooks on the wall (luckily I had taken fold away hangers). The only mirror in the room was the bathroom mirror and once we had been in the shower it was steamy so I couldn't put my makeup on in there (I had taken a small mirror which I managed with), no full length mirror anywhere though so I never knew what I looked like properly, maybe add them on to the landings if you can't fit them in the rooms.

The room was lovely, and the bathroom was adequate with a shower room. The pub downstairs was lovely and dog friendly.

Heating is not central heating it is electric radiators however upon asking, staff couldn't do enough for you very very helpful. 2no further heaters provide. Have to watch the beam.

Location great, has parking, although car park could do with some maintenance. Lovely pub dog friendly. 3rd floor overlooking train station lovely room looks newly decorated.

WiFi sadly didn't reach the top floor very well, which made the streaming services on the TV redundant. Sound between bedrooms on the top floor sadly woke us up quite early in the morning.

The room was clean and well presented. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Free car parking was a definite plus for us. Virtually no noise from the pub downstairs heard in the room. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well.

Hotel is looking tired and dated, loads of snags in the rooms like ripped curtain hooks, holes in walls, spiders webs over every window.. Also, hotel is dog friendly, this isn't actually an issue in itself, but the people above us, their dog was barking/ howling until 11pm, again from 1am-2am and then from 4am-6am Really need to sort this out

Lift was out of order and our room was on the second floor, some scuff marks on the bedroom walls, bedroom could do with a bit of decorating, only food/drink facilities in the room was a kettle, the windows were single glazed with old looking wooden frames so it often got chilly, but we're assuming it's a protected building and there was a heater

No where to put clothes ( no drawers or wardrobe), also no main mirror. Heating was not on in room so was was really cold but they did provide heaters upon request. No working elevator but we were on top floor
