How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Breakfast was terrible. Waited half hour for tea and had to request three times. My breakfast came after 45min wait and was cold. Sausage was undercooked when it arrived was advised they were too busy to cook mushrooms and may I add restaurant was only half filled . The Maitre'd was not very helpful and after speaking to her never apologised and still had to wait for drinks. Another breakfast came out which was warmer but not enjoyable and lacked any taste. The young waiter who originally took our order was pleasant but I feel had not been trained properly. I did complain at reception and this was dealt with efficiently and were very apologetic and discounted breakfast in full..
Hotel was lovely and in an excellent location. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very good. Clean and spacious.

Nothing I can think of.
Bedroom and bathroom were well laid out. The room was quiet and the bed was v comfortable. Breakfast was served promptly and was good. Staff at reception were very pleasant and helpful. Thank you.

the horrible portico. Quite out of keeping with the local architecture.

Staff were sweet but service hopeless. Bar drinks took 40 minutes. No welcome, no menus no one seemed to be in charge. Breakfast was similar. Long wait for tea and coffee.

We ate in the restaurant but thought it was very cold under the air conditioning. The staff did make an effort to increase the temperature but I wouldn’t say I felt warm.
The staff were helpful and very welcoming. We didn’t expect our room to be ready when we checked in early but it was so that was a bonus. Also really appreciated the complimentary late check out as we were competing in the Cambridge half marathon. Will book again for the half marathon next year!!

The room definitly needs more wardrobe space. the wardrobe space I had was just hangers and one shelf. the room absolutely needs at least one more shelf and two drawers to arrange underwear, socks and other personal things. Am an architect, so am sure that this can easily be arranged in the room space. Also, the lighting could be better, it’s still dim even when I put all the lights on. it’s nice to have a bigger bedside table with a drawer. One thing was also not nice is that the room bar was inside the closet (that had the wardrobe shelf). so the staff had to open my closet to refill the bar. it’s not nice coz I had some clothes and my underwear on the shelf. where else can I put them? one unfortunate thing is that at checkout, I was billed £455.68 for drinks that were not mine :)) they are sorting this out and I hope it will be resolved soon.
convenient location, close to everything. big room, big bathroom, big comfy bed, great super friendly staff. the hotel is a beautiful property, inside out, nice design.

Didn't realise where the hotel was & also car park was & drove park it then had to come back round in rush hour & find hotel , then the great hotel staff were brilliant helping .

There were a few updates that could be attended to such as a lick of paint here or there however overall a truly lovely stay!
The setting and history of the hotel is remarkable! I must-stay if you are visiting Cambridge alone for personal reasons, with a couple or even for business!
