Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe stayed in twin room as was thr only one available was nice & clean & met all our requirements but was fairly small would like to stay again in one of the other rooms!
Stayed here with our Cockapoo Lola and the owners couldn't do enough for us (and for the dog!) They were so friendly and attentive and really made our stay special. Breakfast was amazing & they cattered very well to my vegetarian needs. The little compote breakfast starters were especially amazing! The 2nd night we stayed we had a takeaway and the owners set us up in the breakfast area, put on some nice background music on & even made us a beautiful extra chili pickle (was so nice!) We then had some drinks outside and watched the sheep & the sunset. Was a really nice evening & definitely recommend this as good option for the evening if you stay.

United KingdomWith it being an old cottage, lots of creaky floorboards is the only thing I could mention if forced too to find something negative.
The cottage is absolutely beautiful and nothing is too much trouble for Shaan and Sef to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The little touches are just amazing, nail polish remover was put in our room for my partner as they knew we were attending a wedding. Views out of the bedroom to fields with sheep was lovely to wake up to. Breakfast was superb with some bonus fruity granola. Looking for an excuse to come stay again!

United KingdomIt was all perfect - I know they are redoing the bathroom but it would be good to have a small stool or table in there to put washbags on!
Great little B&B with first class service. Really comfy bed so a great nights sleep. The breakfast was wonderful and our hosts were so friendly but professional. We stayed 2 nights for a nearby wedding and it was perfect.

United KingdomOur divan base had been placed across the room with the mattress the opposite way, this made sleeping quite uncomfortable. We did highlight this and they said they would change it. Very creaky floors, but that's to do with the age of the building.
The renovations Shaan and Sef have undertaken are great, the property retains its character but with modern twists and quirks. They were also great at communicating in the lead up to our visit. Breakfast arrangements were top class, with a great variety of different options available. Great towels in the ensuite and comfy, cosy bedding. Lovely view over the fields.

United KingdomThe hosts were the picture of perfection from the moment we entered Tumbleweed Cottage; welcoming, charming, enthusiastic and informative with unwavering attention to detail. All aspects of a stay were given the utmost consideration, from in-room snack and tea bar to a full-variety breakfast, including catering for allergens and my fussiness! The room was modern, clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much!

United KingdomThe postcode quoted on the website I booked through took me to a place about 2 miles away. I had to phone the cottage owners to find a route to them.
Breakfast was superb. The hosts were amongst the best and most friendly I have encountered in my many travels. They have only been running for 9 months but they are doing a great job.

United KingdomNothing, was just what I needed.
Shaan and Sef have put their heart and soul into creating a welcoming and comfortable place to stay, I was there for one night on a solo roadtrip to the north east (location was perfect halfway point between my home and destination). Couldn't believe how peaceful it was just a few mins from the A1. From the initial communications through to some really thoughtful gestures while I was there - including recommendations for dinner when I arrived and a walk before I hit the road again - everything I experienced made me want to come back again. My en-suite room was very comfortable and well-equipped, extremely clean and with little touches you'd expect in a boutique hotel. And the breakfast offering was great (far more than I could manage!). But I have to say that the biggest assets of Tumbleweed Cottage are its caring and friendly hosts who work hard to look after their guests.

United KingdomNot a big deal bit the ceilings were a little low! I am 6'4 and could just stand up in the room. It's not unusual when I haved stayed in cottages though - it keeps it cozy. Probably not ideal if you're 6'5 or more.
Everything was amazing! The beds were comfy, the hosts were welcoming and generous and the price was brilliant. Honestly the hosts couldn't do enough, I even got some delicious home made chilli sauce from them when I got my takeaway dinner which was kindly collected from the door and brought to my room! I have never stayed anywhere where the hosts have been so great!
