Reception desk left unattended for far too long when attempting to check in. Disappearing for a minute to fetch a colleague is understandable, going AWOL for much longer than that with customers waiting is not a good first impression of the hotel

Great location, comfortable rooms, spacious bathroom, tea, coffee and water in the rooms

Our room was clean and the bed comfy but the furnishings were very very tired. The desk was absolutely covered in cup ring stains and should have been revarnished or replaced. To be honest the premier inn rooms are better. Shame as this could be a lovely hotel if refurbished

Parking in the area is a challenge.

Nice bright room the only issue was the main room light wasn't working and there was no staff available to replace the light so had to use the bathroom light to get ready for a night out. Aside from that I will book again.

I chose this hotel because it had a lift but unfortunately it was broken for the duration of our hotel. We are both in our seventies so having to lug suitcases up to the third floor was quite an undertaking. No offer of help was given to help us with our bags. They had no availability on the first floor although they did try to accommodate us but it was not possible.

It was an excellent location for the Cliffs Pavilion Theatre. It was very clean and staff welcoming.

The rooms and hallways are in serious need of renovation/update. Considering this, I didn't think the hotel was good value for money.

This hotel is in a good location, overlooking the sea around and walking distance from both Southend and Westcliff. The staff were friendly.

Frustrating for older people if they needed to park as it’s on an app, they may have other arrangements for those guests that don’t have this option. Could do with curtains to go with the blinds in the room

The location is amazing, we upgraded for a sea view. Parking is simply outside and it has a cute lift to the rooms or stairs. Staff are friendly and the bed was very comfortable. We didn’t eat as had other arrangements.

We paid for a sea view, but the windows were blown and as a result it was hard to enjoy the view from the room due to the condensation running between the double glazed panes. Such a shame.

It’s aged and a sad looking hotel. Had a feeling of needing a good refit and refresh. Things felt a little scrimped; from the loo paper to only one hand towel in bathroom. The bar was short of many wines etc. Restaurant wasn’t open in the evening.

Very central location. Fabulous deal with parking. Staff friendly. A good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Excellent G&T, prepared by great bar staff.

Stayed at the westcliff around 20 times over the last 30 year’s. Prices go up each year. Which we have to accept, but the simple standards that are dropping like the bar not being stocked and cleaned the night after a event, means that we could not get a drink and therefore was not worth using the outside area, On a beautiful sunny day …also breakfast was a lot harder than it should have been..ie lukewarm food,no orange juice, coffee or tea cups. And the coffee and tea water urn’s running dry, also our table was to close to the bread area ie a row of people constantly around our table

    Great location

The chap on reception was a little standoffish . The hotel could do with an upgrade in some areas looked a little tired.

We were visiting relatives in leigh on sea. The property was central and within walking distance to Southend. Parking was available outside the hotel. We loved the breakfast. The lady was very obliging. The bed was very comfortable with clean sheets.

The 1st morning there was no proper coffee as I was told there were only 8 guests so it wasnt worth "making coffee"!!we had to have instant coffee instead. The switch in the lift is very temperamental and the sign about using the room card hasnt been removed since last year! Our room cards didnt work on the 2nd day though my husband has no mobile phone ,so cant have kept his room card with it!The light in the lift was off all weekend and the bulb couldn't be changed as it was the weekend. There is a sign in the bathroom saying you have to wait to get hot water ,in fact 5mn but it is worrying to see all this water not being used..Just a remark about spending water and the environmental issues.
