How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The only thing i can mention is the crockery at breakfast.. I could see and feel bits of debris on some cups, plates and knives forks and spoons. Maybe a new dish washer is required, i felt awkward trying to find fully clean tableware. Apart from that the breakfast itself was really good and the service staff were lovely.
The location was ideal for our trip. The room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant staff were very accomodating and i would recommend booking a table because the restaurant is very busy. The food was really lovely.

Friendly welcome and quick check in. Room was clean and comfortable. WiFi worked fine. Just outside of Lincoln but still convenient for going in and other destinations as on ring road. Location is semi rural and nice and calm.

All good, no problems.
Large room, comfy bed and pillows, large bath, plenty of tea, coffee, drinking chocolate, milk and bottled water. All you could possibly want for an overnight stay.

Prefer hand held shower rather than a fixed overhead shower

The location was perfect. Ten minute ride into Lincoln and a lovely walk along the canel. The marina at Burton Waters is so pretty. I wished we had stayed for longer as the Woodcocks had live entertainment on the day we came home. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pub food was good too and served very quickly. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Mattress was to hard for my liking but that's my preference. Someone else would probably love them.
The location was amazing. The pub has a brilliant beer garden and also over the road there is a marina which has a couple of bars and restaurants. It's a really lovely place. Rooms are a little basic but for the money it's great value.

The bath wasn't particularly clean upon arrival with a few hairs (that couldn't have belonged to us) present The mattress was quite hard, but other than that okay!
Quiet area, close to the pub for lunch dinner and breakfast. The room was adequately sized. Easy access, plenty of free parking. Cost effective.

The only thing that could improve the accommodation would be to get rid of the bath & just have a walk in shower in the bathroom x

TV reception was very poor. Only BBC was and good and remote had no sub-title facility. Didn't like that you had to hang a sign outside to get your room serviced. On the last night we came back after being out all day to find the room as we left it. No clean mugs or fresh supplies. No towel change. Disappointing end to a great stay. Liked that ir was ground floor but as a 4 day stay disappointed not to be overlooking the lawn.
Quiet room. Free convenient parking. On the ring road. Very pretty setting. Friendly staff

Would have preferred a shower and not a shower over the bath, which I found difficult to get in/out and my elderly Dad did not attempt!
Great priced hotel close to Lincoln with parking, which is a major plus. Pub close to the hotel for decent pub grub. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Continental was poorly replenished no jucie left drinks section wasn’t kept clean and no tea pots and cups
