Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast was good but have had better, but also have had worse.
Happy to have taken cheap winter price upgrade to larger room overlooking the harbour. Some noise from traffic and trains outside but a great view. Location very convenient for Historic Dockyards and railway station.

United KingdomWe arrived late at night, off the ferry, but a friendly smile awaited our arrival! Secure parking was an absolute bonus as our car was loaded with luggage. Rooms were spacious and comfortable with all the extras, including biscuits to accompany our morning coffee. Breakfast was great... We hadn't seen 'Kippers for breakfast' in years... So that was a treat! Lovely friendly and attentive waitress! We liked the fact that we could wait to checkout at 11am as it meant we could get a few emails sorted before our departure and long drive!

United KingdomNothing to dislike.
The whole hotel was quiet and spotlessly clean. We had a lovely room, breakfast was excellent with freshly made coffee and food cooked to order. Good secure parking. Location is amazing - just a few yards to the Historic Dockyard.

United KingdomI have no complaints whatsoever and the only thing I did not care for, could be put down to being a matter of personal taste. I found the use of cold white light bulbs gave too harsh a light and would have preferred warm white lighting instead but in all honesty, I must say that on that matter my partner did not agree with me. Thank you for an enjoyable stay
We stayed in the hotel on our way to France and because our experience was so good we stayed here on our return. The hotel is in a perfect location, very close to the centre but right on the waterside, directly opposite a shopping mall, restaurants, bars, The Spinnaker, Portsmouth Harbour Station railway station, bus station, Cosham ferry pier and HMS Warrior. The hotel has its own car park and is only a few minutes' drive from the terminal for ferries to The Channel Islands, France and Spain, particularly important with an early morning departure and late evening arrival. The views onto the waterfront are great and despite the hotel being at the centre of things, the location is quiet, almost village-like. The hotel is smart, spotlessly clean and all facilities are there to make for a comfortable stay. Most importantly, the bed was extremely comfortable and the staff were very friendly and particularly helpful. Breakfast was excellent and although I had a full English, Breakfast, it was remarkably ungreasy.in the eating.

United KingdomThere was no desk in the room which meant it was awkward to work. Despite the fact that I visited in January during a very cold spell, the duvet was a very thin summer-weight duvet. There was no blanket or extra duvet in the room and I soon felt very cold in bed, but by this time it was too late to ask at Reception for a blanket. I then spent a fair bit of the night in and out of bed trying to adjust the heating to the level where I was warm enough to sleep but didn't wake up with a sore throat because of the dry air. I much prefer a cold room and a warm duvet. I appreciate that many people like to sleep in a warm room, but if the hotel had provided some blankets then all guests would be able to choose for themselves, and some of us would choose the more carbon-efficient option of adding another layer.
Room was spacious and had a lovely view of the harbour. Despite being so close to the station, the area was very quiet at night.

United KingdomThe duvet was quite thin, but as the room was nice and warm it didn’t matter so much!
The hotel was right on the front and a 2 min walk to the historical dockyard, which is where we spent our 2 days. The shopping centre is 5 mins down the road with lots of food places here also. No children meant that it was a quiet hotel and perfect for couples wanting to enjoy their time together. The bed was super comfy. We had the king suit which was amazing and included a bath which was jacuzzi style (fun!) The staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were nice and warm, which was good as it was freezing on the night were visited. Tea and coffee facilities provided, with some extra biscuits! Parking out the back, locked at night which meant we knew it was secure. Breakfast was delicious, full English with extra continental too. All in all a lovely stay!

United KingdomThe suite was centrally heated and even with it turned fully off it was warm, without air conditioning I wonder what it would be like in the summer?
We had the second floor suite at the front of the building facing the port, I was concerned that with the amount of traffic, buses, trains, boats and people it would be noisy. However the sound proofing was fine, no issues. Everything was clean and the décor of the room and the hotel generally was of a high standard. The full breakfast on offer in the morning was excellent.
