Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur room was one of the ones near the open staircase and the noise echoed up the staircase. You could hear everything that was said from the reception area and anyone on the staircase or landings. No parking.
The food was excellent, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The views from the breakfast dining room were great overlooking the harbour. Yes we would go back, and we would also recommend to family and friends.

United KingdomEnjoyed my one-night stay at this lovely hotel. I found it “oldy-worldy” in the best kind of way. I was in an attic room (room 25, family room) with no view. It had an ensuite with shower over the bath. No lift to the attic rooms, but that is well publicized. Breakfast was very good, served in a sunny room with a nice view. There was a choice of cooked food and continental breakfast. Great location in Dartmouth.

United KingdomThe room was at the back of the property with the bedroom window facing into the hotel landing and stairway; though this was made clear at time of booking. This meant there was no option to access fresh (outside) air, but more importantly, we couldn’t have the curtains open as anyone walking along the hallway could see directly into our room. Would the hotel consider adding some kind of privacy glazing/film to windows of these rooms?
Location was perfect, and we absolutely loved the quirkiness and wonky floors!

United KingdomOne slight problem was that the property are unable to store any cases on your departure day .( This is the only time we have encountered this , in any hotel). We were travelling on this short break by train so had to spend the morning with our bags , which limited what we could do. We were informed about this after we had booked , so just had to make the best of it !
Wonderful location with view of the river from our window. The building is interesting - really part of old Dartmouth. We had a priests hole in our room, which was a first for us ! The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and we had two good dinners down in the bar.

United KingdomCan say there was anything we did not like.
Our chosen hotel in Dartmouth stayed quite a few times. Good friendly staff and good food. Also a bonus for us we can bring our dog with us. That's very important for us. Also had to take our dog out at about 2 in the morning and called out for the night watchman. He was so kind and waited outside the front door while I took Hugo doggie over to park for a wee.

IrelandA lot of people, like us, were staying to visit the local college. It was a huge weekend and we had to be there no later than 9.00am, allowing for a 20 minute walk to get there it meant no one had time for the cooked breakfasts we had all paid for. This meant cold pastries and fruit and cereal was all that was available. Also difficult to get the attention of the breakfast staff for a special request for soya milk which added to the delay and stress. Also be aware that upon checkout there is no where to leave suitcases. If you’ve travelled by train this is a problem as you end up walking around dragging them with you!! (Our car driver had to leave us after the first day).
Location was wonderful and we were very fortunate to grab a parking spot opposite the main entrance. It’s right on the marina, bang in the centre of town. The bars downstairs are snug and comfy, we ate delicious Sunday lunch and dinner on Friday at the hotel. The staff were really good and friendly.
