How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The extractor fan in the bathroom needed a clean but other than that. Nothing!
Really friendly and approachable staff, beautiful location with stunning views all around. Relaxed atmosphere. Great food - dinner and breakfast were made with such lovely ingredients with alot of care.

Can't think of anything at all. If you don't drive, it's not very easily accessible.
Booked last minute to break up a long journey, and we weren't disappointed! Great value, room was small but very clean & comfortable, and an exceptional breakfast included! Shame that we'd already eaten or evening meal, as the evening menu looked incredible.

Shower was a bit weedy. View over the extractor fans was not great! However no a deal breaker - you go outside to see the lovely common.
Lovely Dinner. Great Breakfasts! Quirky room. Better value than Premier Inn!

Room was very small ( we knew it was a small double but bed was against the wall which made access difficult). Mattress was soft. Shower was small.

We came back to our room after a day out to find that all our belongings had been removed. The mystery was quickly resolved by a member of the staff who gave us back all our belongings in an adjacent room as there had been a problem with the water supply to the bathroom in our room. With many apologies from the staff and a free drink at the bar the incident was over and resolved to everyone's satisfaction. We were then able to go back to our old room which by then had been fixed and we could continue to look at the great views from our bedroom window for the rest of our stay. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional.
The meals were very good and very generous.

Nothing at all!! Everything was, as always, very slick yet relaxing and welcoming!!
This was our fourth or fifth stay and it's always a bit of a sanctuary for us and the staff always make us feel really welcome! Our stays are always very relaxing and enjoyable and the quality of the food is great, especially the full English breakfast morning! We enjoyed really good banter with the manager throughout our stay and are really looking forward to when we'll be back once more.

Taxis were very expensive. Obviously not hotels fault but would be good if they advised you to book your Taxis before your stay. Very limited local Taxis. Had to use one from stroud which cost £90 for a 5 mile return journey.
Very accommodating. We had to add an extra guest at the last hour and they were amazingly helpful

Toilet was to close to the bathroom door. One side of the bed was up against the wall

The smell in the bathroom and the tight fit when getting in and out of bed. I kept knocking my legs on the thick wooden base of the bed, ending up with big bruises over my legs.
We had a problem with our room, and after speaking to Oliver, he was very apologetic and found us a much better and bigger room.
