How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Room was very small and dated but never the less very clean and had everything we needed.

Basic room was ok for a one night stay. Found it a bit inconvenient having to cross the hallway to visit the bathroom, especially as there was no privacy from other guests.
Great location for the new forest. Food was excellent and plentiful.

Nothing. The bathroom could do with a little modernisation, but otherwise all was good
Liked everything. Quaint, original buildings, set in a very pretty village Wonderful breakfast and friendly staff. Even the locals were friendly and chatty

Bit of a mix up over the packed meal we had ordered the night before.
Very good country pub with good dinning room and vey pleasant staff. Room was just fine and what you would expect from a country inn.

Staff amazing, location amazing, food amazing. The only thing we experienced was our hot was very hot because we were above the kitchen and there was a boiler in our room, you couldn't open the bathroom window as it was blocked the other side which made the room pretty hot. The staff were so lovely and warned us as we checked in, there was a fan going and was before we got there and so was appreciative of that and a big window in the room. But for me being above the kitchen in Julys heat , boiler and only 1 window that opened is the reason why I havnt marked this place higher. I didn't sleep well because of it even with my own attempts to cool myself down. But there you go. But apart from that, and I feel it needs updating regarding the decorating and especially the walkway to the room. We had a nice stay :)

Small room and breakfast wasn’t until 8.30am so unable to have it as had to catch a ferry. Jubilee weekend so load music until late, then music whilst staff cleared up then everyone shouting goodnight. So noisy which you expect sleeping at a pub. Just be aware.

Downside our room had a detached en suite which wasn't so good if you had to get up in the night and cross a landing.
Staff were great, location was lovely forest just behind pub lovely walks, pub garden was also very nice, breakfast excellent.

Really minor criticism...food a little overcooked however it was Sunday night after jubilee weekend so all in all would recommend.
Charming location, pub with traditional feel. Warm and comfortable room. Busy staff found time for a chat.

The amount of noise with doors banging at 06:00 in the morning. On the last day there was no hot water.
The staff were very friendly & helpful. The location was excellent for access to the New Forest. The choice of food was very good.

Maybe the rooms could be updated but they were adequate for what we wanted and for the price we paid.
Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. My partner and I will be coming back later on the year.

Our room was a little dated and could do with refreshing. The shower though was fantastic.
A great location for exploring the New Forest and surrounding areas. The staff were first class, attentive and engaging. The breakfast had plenty of choice and the food in general was great.

In room number 2 there was a huge extractor fan outside window sounding like a jumbo jet and on the 1st night even though we had a word twice with staff it was not turned off until 11 30pm .Radiator on full all night and day unable to turn down or off. Boiler in bathroom for the whole place noisy...⁹

We had the boiler in our bathroom which did make the room very warm!
