How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The bed was bloody awful. Two nights of non sleep due to bed clearly having been broken at some point and either bed frame or mattress not being replaced. Plus the pillows were flatter than pancakes.
Clean room for sure And friendly staff.

It would have been nice as residents to have our tea and coffee included in our breakfast menu. The cost of them added quite a bit to the cost of breakfast.
All our meals were very good, the chef has to be thanked for our breakfasts and evening meals. The atmosphere was nice and it was obvious that people who ate there were regulars which is always a good sign. There were many families with children and dogs. All members of staff were friendly and accommodating, a big hello goes to Harper the friendly pub dog who made us feel very welcome every morning!

The window was left open, so when we arrived the room was freezing. The stairs are VERY steep and narrow- however this was advised upon booking so not really a complaint, just a word of warning. The TV remote was missing but we wasn't too fussed. Would be nice to have a reserved parking space as very narrow car park and limited spaces

The bedroom was small but ok but in need of a refresh and this particularly applied to the bathroom. The shower trap needed emptying

I could not use tv in room as no hand control. When I asked for replacement they were very apologetic but guests keep taking them!

I arrived before check in time and they forgot to put my bag in my room when it was ready, despite offering to do so, so it was still sitting in the bar when I returned at 18.00.
Breakfast was good, but there was nothing to put on the toast. The location was surprisingly quiet for a pub on a main road.

The bathroom could use renovation. The bed was not the most comfortable one. All in all, good for one night.
It was good for what we needed, we stayed there for one night. The staff was friendly, very simple check in and check out. Has parking for guests in the backyard.

The bathroom was in need of some tlc, great size but tired decor. The floorboards from room upstairs were very creaky and kept us awake.
Lovely pub/restaurant with amazing outside area. Rooms close by and off the main road so nice and quiet.

Hard to rate because my room's door handle was broken on the inside, meaning I had to yell for help to get out of my room. Staff member was lovely but the replacement room had a TV with no remote.
Bed super comfy and the poor staff member did his very best to help!

We booked a ground floor room but were provided one on the first floor which had extremely steep steps to get too - not easy with luggage and a dog. Parking on site was an added bonus, but something like oil from the kitchen may have been spilt on the ground as it was extremely slippery underfoot, and ended up in the car as no way of getting around not walking in it. Room had a TV but no remote control, so couldn't use it.
Staff were extremely friendly, lovely atmosphere in the bar / restaurant area, good selection of food, great outdoor seating space with heaters, and added bonus of accommodating dogs.
