Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe free wifi could have been better but that's just a niggle - there was good 4G reception so I didn't really need to use it.
A really comfortable room, a great bed and a fantastic night's sleep. Easy to get to with loads of parking, with a friendly staff. Food was great too - both the pub menu in the evening and the epic bacon sandwich in the morning!

United KingdomI stayed here for two nights mid-week. The proprietor is also an excellent host, and assisted me with some local transportation. The pub/restaurant was pleasantly busy, and the evening menu-and food-excellent. I stayed in the largest suite upstairs, which suited me perfectly for working. You need to be quite nimble to make it up there, but there are other rooms on a lower level. Ample parking, and beautiful gardens to the rear.

United KingdomThe only downside to our room was the proximity of the air conditioning unit, which could be heard throughout the night if we opened the window in the bedroom. However, opening the window in the kitchenette made the noise more tolerable.
Right from the point of arrival we felt welcomed. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Mark even offered to collect us from a nearby wedding we were attending, if we’d wanted. We liked the quirky layout of the route to our bedroom (although watch out for potential trip hazards!) Our room was spacious, with a separate kitchenette area. The bathroom was exceptionally clean. The bottled water in the fridge, and the tin of biscuits were a nice touch. We ate in the pub one night and the food was of a very high standard. We’ve been challenged by Mark to return for a Sunday lunch, which he claims will be unrivalled. The atmosphere in the pub on both evenings had a really good vibe. Although they only offer a limited continental breakfast we were offered a bacon butty each morning.

Me and my partner enjoyed the exceptional continental breakfast in the morning, we were also offered a bacon baps. The staff were very kind, helpful and polite. The owner welcomed us and made us feel so relaxed and at home, he took time to come and speak to us and even memorized our meal orders and offered us different options if needed. We were so happy with our room, we stayed in number 5 (the king suite) it was stunning and was a perfect size the lighting in the room was soft and calming too. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

United KingdomLocation was ideal to explore Cotswolds area and National Trust properties. The king room was comfortable with tea/coffee water provided. Breakfast was wonderful. Choices for evening meal were great and beautifully cooked and presented. Great service and atmosphere and Mark was so welcoming. Only stayed 1 night and was sad to leave. Will definitely return for another stay.

United KingdomMinor noise from the main road, and some noise from other guests in a lounge area backing on to our bedroom (but it wasn’t really late at night)

United KingdomThere were buzzing noises at night in the room but thankfully, they ceased at around bedtime. There is a kitchen area in the room but no pots, pans, plates or cutlery so what's the point? The lack of WiFi until the end of my second day. Although I was happy with a basic continental breakfast, I think there should have been a cooked offering....other than just a bacon roll.
I liked the staff and the welcoming atmosphere. I loved the comfort of the bed. I I thought the bathroom and the shower, in particular, were excellent The pretty tin of biscuits was a nice touch The evening meal was tasty

United KingdomThe only criticism is the sofa in room 6 is rather uncomfortable. Not suitable for 2 people to sit comfortably on.
Absolutely loved the medieval character to the build. The attic room (room 6) was gorgeous and exactly what we envisioned. The food was lovely and the staff were very very friendly and welcoming.

United KingdomNothing to dislike - though we wouldn't choose the attic room again if others are available simply 'cos we are less agile than we used to be. The awkward third floor stairs and low ceiling might be a challenge for some people. That said we are 70+ and managed ok. There are a few compromises to be made in this room but hey, its quaint, comfy, clean and full of character in an old building. Would stay at the Lion again for sure.
A really nice bed and breakfast pub that serves excellent good quality food and good beer by friendly staff. As clearly stated, breakfasts are continental and limited but quite sufficient and very good (especially the bacon butties that appeared). We were in the attic, a gorgeous conversion (which had its challenges) with a sitting area to watch TV and a comfy bed, was full of old character yet at the same time modern and spotless. The owner sets high standards and is very willing to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Definitely recommended.
