How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Only down side was that one lift was out of service and the others were very slow to respond
Very comfortable bed and great black out type of curtains. Was surprisingly quiet for a large hotel so no noise in the corridors at peak times.

A long wait to get into the car park, probably down to an event being on at the hotel.

The heating controls
The breakfast and the staff were excellent. The only thing wrong was the rooms were too hot. We couldn’t control the heating.

No air conditioning or extractor fan in bathroom.
Staff were super friendly & helpful. Handy there was a restaurant & bar. Room was clean and comfortable. Good choice at the breakfast buffet. Large reception area which was useful when meeting up as a group.

There was some noise from the fridge north nights where it would just make banging noises for half hour and then stop this happens both nights and was loud. One bedroom the window wouldn’t shut properly which meant it kept coming open during the night so was cold. We should have reported both but we thought it would have just sorted itself out the second night but didn’t which was a shame
That there is parking and it is walking distance to the town centre. The fact the 4 of us all were in adjoining rooms was brilliant and lots of space.

We were put into a room where we could here the fans/ air conditioning (I think it was ) it was very loud and annoying to say the least and I did get much sleep .

The only criticism, and it wasn’t really an issue was the constant buzzing of a generator or something similar nearby. It certainly didn’t spoil our stay though.
The location was excellent being within 100 yards of the train station. Although parts of the hotel were a bit dated, it was very clean and the room was perfect. On arrival, the staff greeted us with some of their typical Scouse humour and offered us a choice of room. The price we paid for the room proved to be excellent value for money for the 2 nights we stayed.

The lifts were very slow

I would have preferred a separate shower rather than the usual bath and there was no extractor fan to take away the steam/condensation. The breakfast was adequate but I would have liked more continental choices on the buffet.
Convenient location for train travel and conference venue. Helpful and friendly staff. Very good value for money on the whole.

The bathroom was tired, quite a few black marks around the bath and the plug didn't open so the bath drained very slowly when the shower was running. As we were staying for two nights we reported it to reception on the first morning and they said they would get maintenance to look at it but it wasn't resolved during our stay. There also wasn't an extractor fan in there so it was very steamy and the mirror took forever to de-mist. For the price paid the bathroom was a let down.
The location is perfect, right by the train station, and for us as we drove there having it's own large car park was great. The room was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The two gentleman who are on duty during the night were fantastic. We planned to go back to the bar for a drink before bed but it was already closed when we arrived back and so they went above and beyond sorting drinks from those available 24 hours on reception and giving us lots of tips about the city. A credit to the hotel.
