Breakfast was soso would have liked some fruit and yogurt.bacon was overcooked and so hard but the kipper was lovely.there was too much for me to eat,two eggs was not needed.

After a long drive to get to the destination I ran a bath only to find there was no hot water, I had to go down to the bar to let them know, they said it had tripped and should be OK in an hour. There should be telephones in the room so that you don't have to keep going up and down the stairs.

    The location was perfect.

The bed was comfortable but very low. Steep and narrow stairs and no shower curtain over the bath.

Atmospheric, historical property close to the key. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The home-made food was excellent.

It's now getting a bit pricey and whilst most hotels in the area (Woodbridge, Aldeburgh etc) are quite expensive they do tend to offer more comfort.

An atmospheric inn with good service, friendly staff and a proper pub feel to it. Excellent breakfast.

Having booked & left credit card details. Was unhappy to have to pay the minute you walk through the door before even seeing the room! It's a pub with rooms so you pay at the bar & anything you'd like to discuss is in a small busy area...no space or time to gather yourself after a potentially long journey. This is because the breakfast staff in the morning when you check out are unable to handle a payment?? Never had to pay immediately before...made me feel a bit "CRIMINAL" to be honest.

The breakfast of locally sourced smoked kippers were excellent 😋

We would have rated higher as we love the Jolly Sailor and have stayed before. The ground floor room was very nice and extremely comfortable, but recurring noise of a fan (or heat pump?) through the night and a light coming through our window from elsewhere in the building (utility room?) meant we didn't sleep as soundly as we might have done.

Wonderful tranquil location, and cosy bar for late night whiskies while the storm blew outside. The best kippers ever for breakfast

Great overnight stay in lovely pub and village

There is no parking at the pub but there is a pay & display car park opposite. We nearly forked out the £10 overnight fee but luckily checked with the pub and they gave us a free pass for the window: this needs to be stated on the booking site. We had the downstairs bedroom, which was very comfortable but with 2 exceptions. First, there was a bath but with no mixer tap with hose to wash your hair. Also, the deep bath had no grab rail to assist old codgers like me to get out of it. Second, we found sleep difficult because there was some sort of outside electrical equipment noise [a bit like a big fridge\freezer kicking in perhaps] that came on about every 30 mins all through the night which you notice because its a deathly quiet rural setting otherwise.

Fabulous old building near the quayside in a gorgeous village. Very friendly staff and excellent food. The 2 minor negative aspects I mention should not put anyone off. This is a lovely place to stay and excellent value.

Unfortunately the housekeeer seemed absent and it showed., room not made up, however girls in bar happily replenished towels etc. I was happy to make my own bed! Quit noisy from heating, but weather very cold and heating essential.

Location near the Quay, great food, roast dinner compliments to the chef. Old traditional pub, like stepping back in time! Parking sorted with pass for car park opposite.

Couldn't fault the room and the food and the staff. Though could have done without the AI music !

A very welcoming place. Cosy bar with lovely log-burning stove. Just what you need on a December day after a walk. The food was genuinely home-made - and the local kippers for breakfast truly memorable!

Nothing really. Everything was set for a really relaxing, unwinding, stress busting few days away. I really can't think of a single negative thing to say.

Breakfast was great. I wasn't kept waiting and there was a lot of it, all cooked a treat. Especially enjoyed the kippers (fresh from Pinney's down the road). All the meals in fact were delicious and filling. The room was really nice, very clean, and surprisingly warm given the weather outside was blowing a gale.

The booking. Com description said private bathroom and I suppose we thought there would be a shower facility. One room had shower taps over the bath but the other did not. Understandliby in an old property we would not expect conversion to be modern. However I think this distinction in bathroom facilities should be described. We were treating guests from Australia and they did not have any shower option in the bath . The rooms were both priced the same

This is a lovely and friendly pub in Orford. We stayed here before about 8 years ago and appreciate the historical features of the pub We had a lovely meal in the bar .

As the pub has lots of small areas it was cosy yet the atmosphere created by the staff made it even warmer.
