How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I have stayed in quite a few rooms and they have always had a chair in them. My room this time - Evercreech did not have a chair. I know the room is an odd shape but a chair to enjoy the garden view and to relax would have been nice. Even a fold-up chair due to the space would be good to have.
As always really enjoyed my visit to The Great Western Hotel.

Leaving the car park is a challenge in the morning but the hotel staff quickly sorted it out.
Easy to find (it’s opposite the train station). Rooms are large, good shower, courtesy tea, coffee etc in room, VERY comfortable bed. The breakfast was exceptional, full English with egg, sausage, bacon, tomato, hash browns, toast, black pudding, baked beans etc - plus croissants and various other alternatives like cereal.

Breakfast not great - a bit 1970s style package cereals and white toast. Not much choice. No fruit, no yoghurt. No healthy options.

The sash windows didn't meet, so couldn't lock.
A Victorian building with lots of character. Great staff. Very dog friendly. Comfy bed, super shower, cosy. Nice breakfast options. Our 4th stay here.

Excellent Hotel location next to Taunton Railway Station (on downside). Run by Dulverton YMCA. Staff were cheerful, & friendly. Certainly would recommend.

There isn't anything we didn't like
Once again we had another fantastic stay at this fabulous hotel. The staff are lovely and so helpful. I can't recommend this place enough.

Opposite the train station, without hearing any train noise. Huge rooms. Lovely old building. Friendly, helpful staff. Very nice breakfast. We were impressed by the fact that the hotel is linked to the YMCA in providing young people with training and opportunities for future career prospects.

No evening meals or bar food, which is fine as you can get Deliveroo or walk into town. I just didn't know ahead of time.
Breakfast was really good. Hotel is right opposite the train station entrance so perfect for travel links and an easy walk into the town centre. Room was really large and comfortable with a big en suite. Fresh milk and a large bottle of water provided and refilled when needed. This hotel is great initiative for helping young people to advance their lives, and I highly recommend. Staff were really helpful and friendly.

Being picky, I do understand the need to nominate a breakfast time the evening before, to allow the staff time to cater for staggering cooked breakfast times, but it's slightly restrictive if we want to lie in a bit (those oh so comfy beds!) but have to get up to satisfy our time slot. But really just a minor point.
Our third visit, with a fourth already booked. Lovely welcome, spacious bedroom, comfortable bed, fantastic shower, dog friendly. Wonderful choice from breakfast menu, with buffet extras.

Could do with shower curtain in the shower. As a talk person a long of water get on to the floor.
This a great place to stay. Great location to rail station and Taunton centre. Close to the river for a lovely evening walk. The staff are very helpful. The rooms are knock out.

There was nothing to dislike! Apart from bit close to the road so be careful! The room was really nice and wonderful my dog was able to stay with me! Quiet, lovely chesterfields in the waiting area. Breakfast was ok. Property ran out of milk only criticism and no brown bread! Staff were helpful and friendly. Really pleasant stay! Conveniently located. Great car park and station opposite. Really lovely hotel. Room was nice and clean. Could’ve done with more loo roll in room!

Only suggestion to improve the room would be a wardrobe.No where to hang up your clothes except coat rail!!

Bar area was a little on the small side and felt a little soulless. Main doors were locked at ten and had to call a number to gain entry. Sadly the number went to voicemail so we were left standing outside for quite a while.
Rooms very spacious and clean. Beds comfortable Quiet location perfect for getting into town and handy for the train station. Staff were amazing. Complimentary breakfast included in the price.
