Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNot much. The lift is a bit slow , but so what. They add on service charges on the bill as gratuities for the staff. Surprise! “ It is discretionary “ , but what am I gong to do, take it off or say no. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. Christi from Romania 🇷🇴 was exceptional. He gave us exceptional recommendations for restaurants, etc.
I loved the location in Kensington! Lovely neighborhood!

United StatesOur antique water taps dripped constantly. We couldn’t twist them completely off which I suspect was due to age. There was no make up mirror and the bathroom wall mirror was small and set too high. The room was extremely small.
The reception areas, hotel bar and restaurant were exceptional. Beautiful decor, well maintained.

United KingdomThe bathroom needed to be made safer. Cold sign on the hot water in the basin. Shower screen blocking majority of bath which made it difficult to get in or out. A folding screen would be far better
It was a very comfortable stay and the staff were excellent. It was also very close to the Royal Albert Hall where we were attending a concert

United KingdomThe only reason I have not marked higher is for several things that made us uncomfortable. On arrival we were told infront of other staff and arriving guests that the room was not a twin. As a same sex couple, we obviously selected this on purpose. I understand trying to be thorough but I've literally never experienced this before and it made us feel really uneasy and slightly judged. If we had an issue we could have said after we had seen it was a double bed, it just felt like an unnecessary thing to point out. The second thing was the unmentioned £50 per head payment on arrival to cover costs of mini bar etc if used. We were assured this would not be taken out but was there for emergencies. Again, I've never had this happen before, and there was no information prior that this was expected. To make it worse, despite us not using anything in the room beyond our own stuff and hotel towels, I was still charged £100. My partner specifically checked when we left about this and was assured we were not charged. When she called to get out money back, no one knew how to deal with it and we had to wait to be called back, then another 'up to 4 days' for it to return to our account. Which is outrageous. Lastly, on check out we were told there were 'additional charges' which, when I questioned, was told by a stern staff member to 'wait while I print them out'. We were then shown 'discretionary' service charges which amounted to something approximately around £45 for 2 nights to cover staff payments. We felt really pressured with the whole ordeal of having to wait for it to be printed out like an invoice, and had to ask several times why this was being presented now before realising it was optional. Again, we left feeling uncomfortable and once we realised our £100 had been taken out, really disappointed that it added extra strain to our stay. If it had not been for these issues, we would definitely have come back.
The hotel was really well located for our workshop a few streets along. There were some really good restaurants nearby and the bed was insanely soft (bedding wise) which is super important to me! There was a lift to our room so we didn't have to climb tons of stairs, and a bath in the room which I really needed for sore muscles. It was quiet so sleeping wasn't a problem, the room felt grand but comfortable.

FranceThe one thing which would benefit from improvements is the plumbing. The toilet drain doesn't work properly, it lacks the strength to empty the basin on almost every single attempt. And what can I say about this separation between the hot and cold water faucets which is so impractical and which I have always known in the UK but never anywhere else. Also, the walls between certain rooms are literally paper thin, and this is of course sometimes awkward :-))
Breakfast without a buffet was unexpected and welcome! Excellent coffee and orange juice (the coffee was so good that they invented a quadruple shot expresso for me during my stay). All the rest was also excellent, well prepared, staff was exceptional. The location is perfect for visiting London and is in a very quiet neighbourhood. Hyde Park is just a few minutes walk away.

AustraliaExpensive service charges in addition when using room service. No alternative when we wanted to use late night room service one night after a theatre production and the staff that ran it didn’t come into work.
Loved the old world charm of the property. Beautiful staircase, lift to get to all floors. Large ceilings and the staff were just lovely. In a very quiet and safe location of London but easily accessible to all. Our bed was also very comfortable with excellent block out curtains.

United KingdomSome of the F&B staff were quite frosty. We wanted to have a quick drink in the bar in the evening before going to RAH for a concert. We were made to feel as though this was a huge inconvenience. Other staff were quite rude. I was given a voucher on arrival to use in the hotel for 15% off F&B purchases. When I presented this after ordering coffee, the waitress said she didn't know whether it was valid and would have to check with the manager. She returned and very grudgingly said it was. I was warned that as the building and plumbing were old and our room was on the 5th floor, it might take a little while for the water to run hot. When my daughter tried to take a shower there was absolutely no pressure and she had to call reception to get someone to come to fix it. While our service charges were removed from our bill as a gesture because of teh inconvenience, one would reasonably expect that a £400+ per night hotel would have their plumbing system in hand.
I chose this hotel as I wanted something close by the Royal Albert Hall. The Gore couldn't have been more convenient. The reception staff and concierge were very friendly and accommodating; we arrived early and were able to leave our luggage until we could check into our room. The decor was beautiful throughout the hotel and we had a very good breakfast before leaving the next morning.

United KingdomOur single beds had double sized duvet covers which were very wrinkled and bundled. So we had to remake both beds to ensure the excess covers were down the sides of the beds! Surely s hotel of this standard has single covers to fit the duvets?! The WiFi in our room (304) continually dropped out and couldn’t be used. We couldn’t switch off the lights without getting out of bed - small point. The lift wasn’t working when we visited.
Location and cleanliness were both excellent. Staff very helpful. We didn’t have breakfast as it was so expensive, so can’t comment.
