The breakfast wasn't great, but I think most people would like it. It was a bit irritating paying what I did and then having a disabled room.

Great location and a really comfortable bed / bedding.

Room 113 was noisy as it was just above the street food place. Also the roll in bed for our son was so uncomfortable he couldn’t sleep on it and ended up in our bed.

Such a long trek from reception to room - lift /endless corridors/flights of stairs. No Netflix etc., just basic free view channels. No one at reception explained about procedure/venue for breakfast should I have wanted it. Room too hot during the night -AC wouldn’t go below 19 degrees and window could not be opened. No instructions for radio.

Pleasant welcome at reception. Accompanied to room ( necessary as not easy to find!). Spacious, quiet room. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom, great shower.

The layout of the hotel was a bit confusing and there was a lot of walking between the room and the breakfast area etc. the staff were so incredibly helpful, though and gave us a loan of a wheelchair for my Dad, which made such a difference.

Exceptional staff, big comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, superb location.

We had booked two rooms. The heating wasn't working in one of them, but the problem was resolved with a portable heater. An offer for an upgrade might have been still nicer, but no need to quibble.

Very friendly staff and a nice big room with a large balcony. The free minibar items are a nice touch. Proximity to the tram and.train station good too.

Service was exceptionally slow. I went to the Snug for dinner on my first night as I was exhausted. I was told that the meat hadn’t been defrosted and I was there for around 2 hours, when I really wanted a fast meal and to get to bed. They offered me a free starter but I would rather have just had dinner. Breakfast on the following two mornings was also unacceptably slow. My poached eggs were consistently rock solid. I would wait so long for my food that my tea will have gone cold when it arrived, and I didn’t want to wait another half an hour or so for another tea! Service on the Monday was noticeably better.

Comfortable room, great location. I liked the Prosecco on arrival and free mini bar. I also really liked having doors in my room that opened on to the garden, and a fairly private spot to sit outside. The room was very clean. Reception staff were lovely and polite.

some minor issues that were discussed with management at the time, lack of attention to detail on cleaning, TV issues, lighting could be better in room, but overall nothing of major concern

location was great, right next to tram stop and main shopping, also we had tickets for Playhouse, so it was next door, breakfast was basic, but produce was of a high standard. Room was spacious and nice balcony.

While the hotel was certainly worthy of its 5* rating, there were some things we didn't like as much, for example the pricing of food, drinks and the room itself seemed a bit hiked up in comparison to alternative 5* hotels we have been accommodated in. Further issues were in the room themselves, primarily with the TV and radio, as despite the connection between our devices and the hotels devices technically worked, it was incredibly difficult to get them to connect and stay connected throughout the stay, this may be due to poor WiFi connection in our room, as we did only have 1 bar of internet. This was made more difficult through use of the radio as well, because despite having brought an Aux cable, and understanding how to Bluetooth connect, (etc), the radio simply wouldn't connect to our devices which halted our chance to listen to music. This was also the case with the radio signal itself using its own built in antenna. In the bathroom, the hot water was mild in both of our opinions, it felt more like a luke-warm when we used the shower, and the shower was also fairly weak (not much power behind the shower itself). Finally, there were no wall-plugs next to the beds, so if you wanted to charge your devices they had to go behind the privacy wall, or use the only free plug on the desk.

The room was excellent, extremely comfortable, and from what we could tell; very clean. When we came across an issue involving a hidden light-switch between the bed closest to the door and the privacy wall, we called reception to help us out and they solved the issue straight away. The food was of excellent quality and the bar staff were friendly as well. Additionally, upon arrival, we were allowed to place our bags behind reception as to not walk around for multiple hours in Edinburgh waiting for our rooms, and they even offered us a glass of champagne and toffee on the walk to our rooms. Certainly worthy of 5*s for the quality of the experience. The floors were all clean, in both the main bedroom and the bathroom, even going as far the floor being a heated floor.

bed was soft, not enough milk for tea in the room, the lack of decent signage, all signposting was exactly the same on every floor., which was bizarre as every floor was different. I and 3 other guests spent over 30 mins trying to find the lift to exit. Staircases were not flowing through floors- Lord knows what would happen in a fire!! we had to exit via a fire exit to the street & re-enter to check out! the chambermaid appeared at 9am saying I had checked out. is there not gym facilities in this hotel? no automatic doors as I had luggage, not very disabled friendly !! disappointed well behaved dogs aren’t allowed.

Concierge was a little needy and constantly checking we were ok. (was young and didn't appear to pick up on verbal clues that we were fine) Was told more decaff coffee pods would be brought to the room, but nothing appeared. Was very quiet for breakfast, yet still messed up order. Staff member was clicking pen constantly, very annoying. asked for hot water, but got a badly washed teapot, which was filled with brownish liquid. could of done with a second cup of coffee, but no offer came.

Room was lovely, bed big and comfy, breakfast was great. Nice central location with amenities close by. Glass of fizz on arrival and a bit of tablet.
