The ventilation in the bathrooms could be improved and generally the facilities could be a little updated. It’s an old venue which requires a lot of maintenance, but the team and the new owners are thoroughly working through the ongoing list of improvements.

Nothing beats Scottish hospitality. Everyone was lovely, attentive and helpful. Special shout out to Martin who went out of his way to help us out on the night of our friend’s wedding. The food was simple and well prepared, the room was clean and tidy, wifi connection was strong and the hotel lounge was a nice spot to finish some work ahead of the wedding weekend.

Overall, a pleasant and relaxing stay. The new manager/owner stated that he was in the process of updating/modernising some areas of the hotel. I feel sure this will be of benefit in the future.

Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Lounge was pleasant and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were greeted on our arrival and shown to our room, which was comfortable but needed updating. The parking area was convenient and local.

The room we stayed in needs updating, felt like I was staying in my grans back bedroom. There was no hand soap by the sink, so we had to use the tiny bottle of shower gel provided. The new owner asked us for feedback, and was very gracious about our complaint and didn’t charge us the £15 dog fee as compensation for being disappointed. Not bad overall tho. Just needs a little more TLC in the rooms

The breakfast was delicious, and the hotel itself was quaint, we didn’t have time to try the restaurant in the evening but me and my boyfriend felt like it would have served good food given the quality of the cooked breakfast.

There was nothing I did not like, but if I need to mention 1 thing, it is the restaurant part right of the reception desk.

The room we had (nr 1) was spacious, clean and the beds were amazing. Although 2 separate beds, I slept like a baby and my wife, who usually has a back issue, did not suffer. Breakfast was simple, dinner was good and the team was very friendly! However when you go for dinner, please sit in the bar as that offers the best atmosphere.

It's right above a road and you can hear some noises, but it's not much of a problem because there's no traffic during the night. The blinds are not effective.

We went out for the day and when we came back our room hadn't been serviced. The bed wasn't made and the milk and coffee had not been replenished. Apparently you have to ask for this to be done. However when we mentioned this the owner personally sorted the room. One small thing that my husband mentioned was that in the gents toilet the toilet brush was on the wall at shoulder height - not very pleasant for any gentleman needing a sit down!

Staff were amazing. Initially there was a mix up with our room, was rectified immediately and we were upgraded to a much larger family room at the front. Food in the bar was delicious. Breakfast next morning was also delicious. Loved the chillax area in reception next to the log fire. Beautiful location too.

Not a didn't like really just a little issue with a step en route to the bedroom corridor. I was so engrossed with following the member of staff that was showing us to our room that I didn't see the step leading through the door. Was kind of embarrassing to find myself on my knees as I went through the door. Good job I'm able to laugh at myself. I didn't see any sign saying there was a step and as the carpet was all the same colour my eye sight never saw it. There is a sign on the door coming the other way though and I didn't do it again lol

Although the exterior of the Hotel is a little off putting the inside was lovely. There was ample car parking just across the road in the Hotel car park. A typical Scottish Hotel, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. We stayed in Room 18. It had a good clean ensuite bathroom with a shower in the bath. The toilet suffered a wee issue with the flush (same problem as we have with our own 1 at home) but wasn't a problem for us as we knew how to sort it. The sink could do with levelling off as items didn't sit on it very well but worked well and was functional. The shower water pressure was fabulous. One of the best showers we have ever had. The bed was very comfortable. The room had all the facilities you usually get, tea and coffee, tv ,wardrobe , chair ect and all worked well. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area. We highly recommend the restaurant and having breakfast the food was exceptional. There is a lovely lounge area with a wood burned for guests to sit and relax.

One small thing...not everyone will be familiar with the operation of a smart TV so perhaps instructions could be provided. A longer stay would've been better! We enjoyed our visit and wish the new (very experienced)hosts every future success.
