How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Everything was brilliant
Me and my daughter booked a last minute break at The Berburry for two nights. The room was really nice and exactly like the photo on the website. The bathroom was a good size and extremely clean. The breakfast choice was excellent, had a fried breakfast the first day and a bacon roll the second day. Both excellent with good quality ingredients. Also tried the yoghurt and fruit salad. Loved the fridge with the bottled water and fresh milk also sampled Wendy’s brownies and lemon drizzle cake which were very good and complimentary. The hotel is located a short walk from the town centre with everything on your doorstep. Had a lovely relaxing break. Wendy and Steve were very welcoming and helpful during our stay.

Absolutely spotless hotel, the whole hotel was immaculate, the rooms were pristine 1000% will return to the BERBURRY, our host Wendy and Steve and Ashley were incredibly welcoming, The breakfast was fantastic, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, fruit juice, tea ,coffee, and a choice of breakfasts from full English (which was outstanding in taste and quality and amount) all with table service on crisp white tablecloths, cloth napkins, all matching tableware and cutlery, an incredible place to stay and can't wait to return again soon, THE whole experience was amazing, we loved it, forget the rest THE BERBURRY HOTEL is the BEST

What a wonderful place! The hosts Wendy and Steve were very welcoming and went above and beyond with all our needs. The accommodation has lots of character and is spotlessly clean, lovely room and had everything you needed. I would definitely return and can highly recommend staying here. The breakfast is also fantastic with the added bonus of really yummy home made yoghurt. Thank you!

Friendly welcome. Excellent location near Torre Abbey. Homemade brownies and fresh milk. Great breakfast: homemade yogurt and extensive choice of cooked breakfast.

Nothing, our stay was perfect.
What a gorgeous hotel. Wendy and Steve really welcomed us and was most helpful and informative. The room was exceptional with attention to detail coffee / tea facilities including fresh milk and cake if you wanted ! Oh my goodness the breakfast was amazing . Will definitely be back .

I can't fault our stay at The Berburry
The hosts were very accommodating with the booking and extremely friendly and helpful. Good variety of options for breakfast. Food was really good Nice touches which were a cool flask of milk for the room and complementary cake available

Minor issue only. Front rooms could be improved by adding blockout curtains.

Liked pretty much everything about our stay. Only suggestion is more powerful shower and bigger towel rail.

Fabulous hosts, really lovely and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, the room had been renovated to really high standard with great decor and quirky touches. 10 minutes to walk into town and marina. The breakfast was amazing absolutely delicious and good choices.

My only complaint was that we chose a very cold weekend to visit Torquay and when we returned from the Theatre the central heating radiator were cold. I made sure they were on abd it was about 7-30 am before the started to get warm. I know you should not sleep in a warm room but we both suffer from the cold and would have appreciated it if it was warmer in the night but did not wish to disturb them late at night. It may be down to economies but this is likely to deter people from returning in winter months when heating is required especially for elderly guests. Ok they may be having problems with their boiler or have the emersion tank in their bedroom and not realise how cold the other rooms are. Sorry but I have to tell the truth abd can’t praise the rest of the place enough as everything else was perfect.
Very well decorated and well furnished villa, throughout including bar area, bedroom abd dining areas. Our king sized room had large very comfy bed, separate and bath shower plus toilet and separate washing area with large sink. The hosts were wonderful and made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They prepared a delicious breakfast for us.

The whole stay was very comfortable with Wendy and Steve very attentive to our every need. The hotel was decorated beautifully throughout and very clean.. The breakfast was delicious with a good choice. Definitely a revisit on the cards later in the year.

This was a nice location. On the flat to the centre. Just far enough to be a nice quiet location. Hosts were very attentive. Good information. Would highly recommend The Berburry.

Couldn't fault the Berburry or the hosts in any way.
Everything was perfect,the hosts were lovely, the hotel was immaculate and the food was delicious. Excellent value for money too.
