Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United States2 out of the 4 showers didn’t work. When the hostel is full, that’s a problem. The quiet hours are supposed to start at 10pm, but there was a VERY loud group until 1:30am! Honestly, I’d be fine with later quiet hours, but after 11/12pm, people need to sleep.
The staff is amazing. They were all very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was great. Loved the eggs, toast and cereal!

ItalyOnly 2 share toilets and showers for the whole structure and there were 2 showers out of service. It was not enough.
The hostel was really close to the old town. Small but cosy.

GermanyI couldn't sleep that much because of the noise made by others, the doors could be close smoother, instead of making a noise that's wake up everyone not because it's loud but also I felt it in my bed even I had ears bugs, only showers funktioning, and the other 2 brocken, so needed to cancel my shower one day.. But in general it was my first hostel experience in life so I don't know it could be normal like this 🙄 the breakfast wasnt much for vegan was eggs, toast, Marmelade, butter.. I bought my breakfast outside
The location was perfect, the kitchen atmosphere was cool and Cosy

The beds were comfy with sockets above the beds, the bunk beds were sturdy and didn't move even tho there was three people in one row

United KingdomMy issue is that the common room gets very crowded with guests. Everyone is lovely and very polite, very nice. There are two communal showers and toilets, and they would benefit from getting the current ones fixed or adding additional ones. There is no working lift. You need to pack lights and be reasonably fit. Remember to pack a towel or travel towel, or you'll need to rent one for £2, despite saying free on Booking.com. Overall, it was a great place to stay for the night, with a fantastic location, and supper clean. The staff are friendly.
The hostel accommodation was a great price, fantastic and located well opposite the station. It includes breakfast. I didn't have this Greggs about 200 yards away in Waverly station, I had an early train. All the other guests were super polite and very lovely. I think for a night stay, but maybe not for a longer. The place is hygienically clean.

GermanyIt was bad that there were only two toilets and showers for a lot of people. This way I had to wait several times. The common room (the kitchen) was often crowded and one table constantly occupied by staff.

GermanyThe kitchen/communal area is too small, it can only sit ~12 people at a time (over 40 beds in the hostel). Only 1 bathroom with 4 showers (2 were out of order) and 2 toilets. There is NO space/privacy to get changed when exiting/entering the shower. Triple bunks mean you can't comfortably sit up in the bed The included breakfast options are toast with butter/jam, cereal, and eggs (which you have to cook yourself), quite disappointing ‐ particularly if you don't eat eggs
Staff were very friendly and always easily accessible. Everything was kept quite clean

AustriaToo many people in a tiny room. Super hot in the night. No curtains by the beds no privacy. No one has enough room. Green exit light so bright you cannot sleep. Poor shower without any room for cloathes or towel so prepare to have wet cloathes after the shower.
