A lovely b and b in a great location. Extremely comfy beds and very welcoming hosts. Karen and Peter could not do enough for us and really helped make our stay very enjoyable. So much so we plan to return soon !

Staff were excellent. Nothing was a problem and always happy to help. Breakfast was really good and enough options available to keep everyone happy. We had 2 rooms booked, Both were very clean and comfortable. Great choice in the bar too!

Lovely overnight stay. Pub was perfect offering great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Lovely location in a quieter location just out of Durham town.

We should have noted that our room was in the roof space with limited head room, and should be avoided if you can't manage two flights of stairs.

Very clean and you can see the owners are working very hard to keep the rooms well maintained and serviceable. Great location only a few minutes drive into Durham city. Lovely breakfast and very friendly helpful staff who catered for our every need. We would love to come back and stay at The Avenue again :)

Taps in room 4 almost impossible to turn off. Very steep staircase to rooms upstairs and one of us had poor mobility.

A very good breakfast menu, liked the eggs benedict. The main menu is a little limited but excellent quality. Our room was excellent and was serviced each day.

The owners of this establishment, Where very helpful and managed to make us a late breakfast before our journey back to Kent . We arrived on a Sunday and was greeted by very happy and polite staff , then had a lovely roast dinner.

Karon and her team were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. The room and pub were very clean and comfortable We had an great nights sleep and the breakfast was superb. I would highly recommend both the rooms and restaurant. Would definitely stay again.

The beams in our room were very low with a sloping roof and I kept banging my head. A trip to the bathroom involved dipping down 3 times and the obvious route at the 'high' end of the room was blocked by a wardrobe. We werent aware of this when booking (no photos of each room on this site)

Can’t think of anything to complain about.

Breakfast was excellent, we both had Eggs Benedict with lots of tea and coffee. We used it as a base for our trip to Ireland as we had free parking for the week we were away. The hotel arranged a taxi to take us to the coach pick up point which was very helpful. The staff were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed for our short stay.

We had a room in the roof so a lot of stairs to get to it and had to be careful not to bump your head on the exposed roof trusses.

The bed was incredibly comfy, like the one we have at home and clean. Good size television. Really nice staff who made you feel welcome.

Everything was lovely

My goodness, I don't know how to say how amazing, brilliant, fantastic this hotel, pub was. It has been one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed. The kindness thought was amazing. There was smaller Karen and taller Karen. We ordered food in evening and kindly bought it up to us. They allowed me breakfast in be next morning. If we go Durham again, which is beautiful, would stay there and just get a taxi into city. Only 2 miles. Well done this amazing place xxx

Wonderful staff - so helpful and friendly. Comfy bed and a quiet room (which surprised me being above a pub!). Lovely food in the restaurant. I liked the availability of books to read too - great on an evening during a work trip. I would definitely stay again!
