The rooms are quite dark, and dated .

Very well situated for the theatre and town centre. But still away enough to be quiet.

☹ We would have liked to eat breakfast there, but at £20pp I found the price astronomical. ☹ The restaurant was totally over-rated and far too expensive. The starter was ridiculously small for £11 and my trout with shrimp tortellini wasn't worth half of the £29 it cost. The tortellini weren't cooked properly (I like al dente, but this was still crunchy raw) and I'm certain were 'not' shrimp, but rather salmon. In fact, the trout might have been salmon too. The table was also covered in outdoor dust (a bit grimey), and should have been wiped before we sat down. Before we arrived, I had told the staff it was my daughter's 17th birthday and asked if they could please do a Happy Birthday Plate after our meal. I'm not sure if that message was even conveyed to the kitchen because when I ordered her and myself a shandy to go with dinner, they made a scene about ID and her needing to prove her age - despite the fact that I was her Mother and we were eating food! This went back and forth for about half an hour and almost soured the entire experience. I understand they have protocols, but sometimes they should just employ common sense? I didn't complain about the food because it was my daughter's birthday, but I wouldn't eat here again. The fact that you had to walk through the restaurant to get to the reception and bedrooms was weird. There were things in the fridge, but it was unclear as to whether they were a courtesy or required payment. After paying £7 for a shandy in the restaurant, I didn't want to risk it, so I didn't bother with milk in my tea. There were 2 apples with a knife on the table. They were old. I'd suggest not bothering to put fruit out for guests unless it's fresh. The bath plug was also leaking, so bathing was unpleasant.

❤ The location was fabulous, and so was the view, right over the RSC and the river, in the heart of Stratford! ❤ The room was lovely, clean, and the bed and cushions were incredibly comfortable. The bed was huge! ❤ The bathroom was great! Loved all the shelf space and the comfy bath, just a shame the plug didn't work properly. ❤ Helpful staff. Eventhough I had booked for 2, my other daughter had to stay with us last minute, so we were 3 in one room. When I booked it stated that if I needed an extra bed it could be provided for a fee. When we got there however, the room was too small for an extra bed, but they still accommodated my daughter free of charge. They even provided us with extra towels. 😊 ❤ The receptionists were very helpful and friendly, and the young man who worked the night shift very kindly made me a fresh coffee in the morning - despite it being 4:30am!! ❤ Loved the topiary gardens, but that old faded Union Jack painted on the side of the shed needs to go!! 🤦‍♀️😆

Lunch, Pistou soup?? ordered it thinking it was minestrone type, but it was Pesto not Pasta! Anyway, that was sorted. We were delighted to have a fridge in our room, only to find it didn't work very well. The milk went off. The bed being one of those zip up the middle type, not too comfortable. These were minor complaints, but you did ask!

Breakfast was scrambled egg, cooked almost to perfection (I like my husband's eggs!), local butter provided in lovely soft little pats. Tea excellent. We had dinner one evening which was also excellently cooked and presented, and served. We told the staff it was our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, and they went out of their way to provide little cakes and a lovely card.

Unfortunately, we had a freezing cold shower for 2 mornings as we had no hot water. The staff did apologise, and it was eventually warm on our last morning...not sure what was wrong.

Liked the location, lovely staff, and comfortable hotel areas, also beautiful gardens.

There are half a dozen entry points that can be hard to navigate and all of them lock at night except the main entrance which is tucked around the back of the building.

Beautiful hotel with all the best of Stratford on the doorstep. The room was spacious and clean, the staff were friendly and the bar/terrace is not to be missed.
