How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

It's not an option I can highly recommend for those with claustrophobia. Too small.
The Ampersand Hotel offers a modest yet luxurious experience for living in London's five-star luxury. You're in a downsized splendor. The hotel is beautiful, the location is perfect, and the rooms are satisfying in terms of beverages and snacks. However, they are very, very small. The hotel staff is generally helpful and attentive.

I think the bar should be on the ground floor, not the basement - an upstairs room is used just for tea. And these prices really should include breakfast - breakfast cost me £35 as you are charged for everything separately, even a coffee.
Well located with the tube station and pedestrianised area with cafes and restaurants just around the corner. Lovely room with large bed and chairs and walk in shower. Nice restaurant downstairs - Apero.

Construction Site around the Hotel wasn‘t mentioned and really loud on the Morning around 08:00 a.m.

In hindsight we would have upgraded to a slightly bigger room
The whole experience the staff were all very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to make it a memorable stay. The hotel well deserves it's five star status and the location has to be one of the best in London.

The front desk guys are amazingly helpful. They make your stay so enjoyable with attention to detail and the purpose of your visit. We got upgraded, which was a lovely treat. The hotel has a very welcoming ambience. The bedrooms are spotless, with super comfortable beds and smart bathrooms. Great location 5 mins walk from South Kensington tube station. Highly recommended.

There is nothing I disliked about the hotel
The hotel is centrally located. Various restaurants. Banks, and transportation are just a 5 minute walk. The V&A is a 10 minute walk.

Location was great, early supper and breakfast was fabulous The room was great, the bathroom had a spacious shower, the bed and pillows extremely comfy. The only downside was we unfortunately timed our stay with the hotel restaurant and bar being shut for a refurb for a few days!! 😕
Everything! Staff very professional & very helpful and friendly. . This is a really lovely hotel in a great location. Attention to detail amazing. Rooms, decor, toiletries & little bottles of fresh milk in room to make tea were just fab! Will definitely be going back.

Unfortunately the rooms are very small
The property is very nice and the staff super friendly. The location is also very nice, 1 minute walk from South Kensington station. Room service is also good.

It was all good
They have thought of everything we could possibly need. The bed was extremely comfortable with lovely pillows and sheets. It was also quiet within the hotel and no noise from outside
