How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The room itself was super clean, the bed was very comfortable. For some reason, we received an upgrade to our room upon arrival which was an excellent surprize and a cherry on top to our trip. We thank you for that!

Slight mishap regarding late check out and was disturbed however it was dealt with professionally Not enough gluten free options on the menu

If I were bring very picky , there was not an angled mirror so I could see the back of my hair. And that in no way spoiled my stay.
Everything was well thought out and room was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. Shower was superb.

Room service vegetarian burger was not great- very bland, under-seasoned and no seasoning supplied. Quite a trek to my room from reception, to avoid passing through the restaurant.
Lovely breakfast, room service available, comfortable room with high quality fittings and toiletries. Location great although a little hidden down a side street.

Had a nice bar area and restaurant. Breakfast was very nice. Room was comfortable and clean. Coffee in room was great! Location to Edinburgh Castle was a very long walk. Take buses and not so difficult.

Nothing I didn't like, just a little frustrated at the time it took to be served a coffee with my breakfast.
Perfect location for our trip as we were seeing a show at the Festival Theatre. Room was great, though they said we'd been upbraded to a superior with a kingsize bed, yet the bed was still a double. Breakfast was lovely, though it took forever to be served with coffee, after a couple of reminders.

Staff was very helpful when we had a medical emergency. Room was excellent. Loved the opaque bathroom door that let enough light in that a light wasn’t needed.

We loved everything. We wouldn't change a thing, other than private parking .
Everything the hotel was spotless. Bedrooms were bright and roomy, meals were delicious. Staff were excellent

Would have been helpful if whereabouts of lifts C & D had been pointed out to me at reception.
Was perfect for the Festival theatre, which was the reason for my stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay - no complaints!
The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. My room was spacious and clean, with both air conditioning and windows which opened easily. The bed was comfortable and the shower was modern and powerful. I really liked the modern, bright and attractive decor in the public areas. I had the continental breakfast which provided a good selection of cereals, fruit , yoghurt and pastries.

The size of the room, was a little small but we were hardly in the room during the day so just managed.
Great location and very helpful staff. We had some issues with our room but the lady at the reception was extremely helpful and sorted it all out and even made good the issues as I was travelling alone with my young son. Her helpful attitude made the stay even better for us. Location was brilliant, away from the crowd but close to public transport. We even got a direct bus to Rosslyn Chapel from near the hotel. Ordered room service once and the food was really good and decent in size. All in all, a great stay for my son and me.

I didn't like that no one cleaned my room, I wanted more mugs and towels.
The room was a spacious and very cosy! I loved the bed, it was very comfortable and I loved that I couldn't hear anyone in the other rooms. The staff were lovely, and were very helpful.
