How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

I set a message before I arrived about my dogs needs.they had not looked also they have no downstairs rooms .so my dog had to sleep in hallway and was still charged the rate for a dog 10pds a night

Hotel is near airport but still a little trek late at night - so be vigilant and take a torch. More instructions about entry would be good as I went to the wrong entrance first. Check-out was super early and a later one would have been better.
Very close to the airport and able to accommodate a late night check-in.

I realised in the night it wasn’t quite warm enough and I couldn’t seem to turn radiator up. Not a big problem.

Unfortunately, the mattress in our double bed was past its best. It needed replacing about 2 years prior. We woke with aches and pains both mornings as it provided little to no support. The shower took some time to heat up, I'm not sure if this was because other guests may have used up the water. The tap for hot wouldn't go any higher, so shower wasn't as hot as we'd of liked. Easy fix, but bedside table lamp didn't work - possibly a bulb and only the bottom 1/3rd of the towel rail in the bathroom heated up. If the mattress was sorted, we would certainly stay again
I was very impressed with the location, and the host was excellent - very helpful and informative with recommendations. Heating was spot on in the room Provided a towel in the hall so we could dry our dog when we returned from the wet days

The room was upstairs with no lift and I had to leave the luggage downstairs which wasn't convenient as I had some last minute repacking to be done for my flight next day.
The room was very clean and cozy. The staff was super friendly.

The only REALLY minor thing I'd mention - some basic toiletries on the room would be nice - just a little bottle of shower gel or something as I had to unpack to get my own.
Perfect for an airport overnight and a really short walk from the airport. I arrived really late but the owners were organised and communicated well about key collection from a key-box. Cozy and spotlessly clean room. Nice multi-USB charger by the bed - why doesn't every hotel have those?

No breakfast available. Toilet system was noisy and no extractor fan in bathroom.
Very close to airport yet small ‘homely’ feel. Very comfortable bed. Easy out of hours checkin.

The mattress was a bit hard for my back so I didn't sleep too well the first night. (The 2nd night I was too exhausted not to sleep!)
Perfect location for walking access to Newcastle Airport. (10 mins to Terminal building).

Nothing. It's my go-to for Newcastle departures now.
Location for airport. Thoughtfulness of facilities eg socket for charging phone right on bedside table, wi-fi password obviously displayed. Room was really spacious. Also just a simple 20 minute bus ride from town centre

The walk between the airport and the cottage is a bit dangerous, although it is quick.
The welcoming owners, the authentic style of the cottage, and having things to make tea. The cottage is also very quiet, considering the fact that it's close to an airport.
