How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location was great for me for work it had everything I needed for my stay. Bed was comfortable and the stables were warm and welcoming. Property was quiet considering it was behind a pub. The little extras were very much appreciated. Wish I could have explored the town and its history. Another visit maybe needed!

Street parking is the only small minus.

Not much. We brought 4 bicycles, so space was a little tight.
A super cottage. Ideal for two of us. The location in Bishops castle is great for visiting local attractions and the village provides plenty of local eating options.

The check out time was 10am. I guess most people are used to checking out at 11am or midday with options for late check out - but that is more hotels i suppose. This is a lovely cottage but later check out would be more preferential.
The cottage, location and facilities all exceeded my expectations. Was great waking up each morning to just the sound of birds. No noisy cars or people. Shops and restaurants, although limited locally, they were all in easy walking distance. But then this is a countryside village!

This is being very picky and is more of a suggestion, the duvet is very heavy and super warm. A summer duvet as an alternative in the cupboard would be nice.
Perfect for our need and had all the facilities you could want. Very thoughtful hosts.

As I'm not from the UK, having some explicit instructions on the hot water activation cord would have been great! I eventually worked it out but when you're traveling you are often low on mental energy so whatever makes it easier to not have to think is a gift!
After staying in single rooms with shared facilities in other locations on my trip it was lovely to have a whole place to myself. It felt like a luxury. The laundry was particularly useful (even though I didn't cook for myself). It was clean and the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. And my host very kindly allowed me to store my luggage until it was time to move on from the village. There was a lovely bottle of wine and fresh roses in the kitchen when I arrived. This gift not lost on a weary traveller. Great location in a beautiful little village.

Unfortunately because of the thin walls between the properties, we could hear noise from next door and were woken each morning by the neighbours.
Lovely cottage with great facilities. Nice to have flowers, cake wine and, most of all, milk on arrival. Comfortable bed and appreciated having two TVs and a radio available. Although there was no parking on site it was easy to find a space on the street. The town had everything we needed.

There wasn't anything I didn't like.
The owners was very helpful and friendly. The accommodation were very close to where I was working which was very efficient. The accommodation was clean and homely.

bedroom was just as walked in from the street / lounge upstairs . very misleading as otherwise wouldn’t have booked it . shower did not work and hot water run out very quickly - not having a shower properly and not out of bucket is not great . the place also had a musky smell.
