At self service breakfast was excellent except that the hot drinks were out of a machine rather than brought to the table. A minor problem, personal preference 😊

Beautiful place, it was an oasis for us in a very busy schedule. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a great choice of food.

Fantastic room facilities with superb bathroom. The bar staff even made a snack on late arrival even though the kitchen had closed by then - definitely above and beyond for service. Plenty of choice for breakfast and the tables are well spaced so that you are not crowded out by other guests.

Staff were excellent very attentive to our every need. Parking was free some places charge. Room was lovely fitted out to the highest quality

The only down side and this is nitpicking was you had to go outside to get to the restaurant

The property was modern, very clean, staff very welcoming, it was lovely having some of the old fashioned values like, being shown to our room, asking if we needed help with our luggage, explaining how everything works in our room. The young lady on reception was so lovely

The property is very Modern, clean and set in lovely landscaped gardens. It’s semi rural location also makes it feel the perfect break but only a 15min drive from York. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We had requested ground floor rooms due to our daughter's spinal condition. We received written confirmation of this. On arrival, we had been allocated first floor rooms. However, we were immediately moved to adjoining ground floor rooms.

Top notch. Friendly, helpful staff. The attention from Carl and Marie was second to none. Loved our breakfasts at Tykes. Staff were attentive and pleasant, including the busy chef.

My only criticism would be that there were no bathrobes or slippers provided in the room

It was a lovely approach to the hotel, the grounds were beautiful and the hotel was well decorated for the Christmas period. The staff were lovely and so was our room

The only negative was that there was a bit of rubbish under the desk in the room which must have been missed when the room was cleaned. Apart from that though the room was spotless.

I was very impressed with the stay we had at Sandburn Hall. The room was lovely, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The location was perfect for getting the Park and Ride into York too.

The bed was awful, just awful. I don't know if the bed needs a topper to smooth it out, but was SO bumpy/lumpy. Woken up by next door having a shower - why could we hear that?? it was so loud, as if it was in our own bathroom.

The only thing was that the sinks did not drain very well and it was too hot in the bedrooms.

It felt luxurious yet calm and tranquil at the same time. Attention to detail was evident throughout.

The heating system- the fans are noisy and it was one extreme to the other even by half a degree. Either too cold or not hot… a little disappointed because our stay except this was perfect.

Lack of choice in the restaurant and the cost of evening meal.

From the moment we got there the staff were extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. The restaurant's food choice however was poor and quite expensive. But the breakfast was the best I have ever had . We will definitely go back
