No information was provided prior to arrival about the car park. We initially couldn't find it but after going into the hotel to find out where it was (when nobody answered the phone!) we arrived and pressed the buzzer for entry. There were 3 members of staff standing chatting at the reception desk but hadn't answered the phone or buzzer. We had to abandon the car and go back into the hotel to request someone let us in! As we parked another car arrived and had exactly the same problem.

The shower was amazing with very strong water power. The dinner menu and all choices were very good.

Only having the option of Vegan butter at breakfast. For me, Croissants are a treat to be eaten with real butter. The hotel refused to provide any. Generally, the continental breakfast could be better..maybe some fresh fruit salad and wholegrain bread?

Rooms are beautiful. Have stayed several times now - all the rooms are lovely. Bedlinen beautiful. Complimentary Rituals products in the bathroom a real treat. I love the Butlers rooms providing fresh milk and water and extra tea, coffee and biscuits. Lovely atmosphere in the bar downstairs - always people in there..

Too hot! Lack of attention to detail let it down again - extensive tea/coffee tray but no milk or water in second room. Too many cushions!

The temperature of the room, and the hotel in general was very warm. Quite uncomfortable during the night. we tried to lower the temperature in the room via the thermostat but it was preset. The breakfast set up was a little unorganized. Tables were not cleared away after people had left. Juice and cereal bowls had run out. We weren't asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast either. Apart from that, the food was good and facilities are clean.

The room was excellent. Very clean, and the facilities were great.

This is an old building with rooms spread over several levels and no lift possible within the space. The car park barrier was only operable from reception but this will hopefully be resolved once the works in the car park are completed.

The Salisbury Arms is a great place to stay. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the rooms are clean and comfortable, with good showers in a separate en suite. I particularly liked the little bottles of milk in place of the usual small cartons, with extra supplies freely available in the Butler's Pantry on each floor. As always, though, the main praise must go to the staff, who are universally pleasant, efficient and generally super.

The hotel building and interior were amazing. Staff very helpful, breakfast choices were great. Bed very comfortable and good sized room. The only negative was evening meal, battered fish was mushy. Pie was lovely and mushroom pasta was ok.

Just the room was great but the some bits in the bathroom were a bit damaged. But that was literally the only thing!

Amazing staff! Friendly kind and super helpful! Staff are 11 out of 10! Coffee at breakfast, great, and gluten-free options available. So many tea options and coffee machine in rooms too!

Nothing - it was a great experience!

Traditional yet modern (recently refurbed) hotel, slap-bang in the centre of Hertford. Parking is in a roomy car park at the back of the hotel. Friendly staff. Beautiful rooms. We stayed in a boutique room which had two levels and a sofa. Lovely bar / restaurant downstairs and continental breakfast included with the booking.com booking.

The hotel offered an excellent breakfast, but this was not included in the room rate from Booking.com - if we had booked direct this would be included. It seemed unfair to have to pay another £60 for a cooked breakfast.

The room was lovely. Shower amazing. Bar cosy and beers lovely. We ate dinner at the hotel for the first time in as long as I can remember staying places with work. The pies were delicious. Its a great hotel, really good value for money and better than any of the chain hotels by an absolute mile.

Not a fan of the T bags, I prefer a Yorkshire tea. My preference but nice touch.

Great place. I have stayed here half a dozen times when working in North London, and I recommended it to my colleagues, who have also stayed here. Large place, nice bar, great staff, perfect rooms, top location.

There was no lift. Fortunately, we only had a small case had we had a really heavy one, we would have found it difficult. We thought the staff were nice people but didn't feel they were that worried if we were in their hotel or not. Food was distictly average for the price paid.

Parking is always very tricky, but the gifted council have made a very poor internal ring road that makes a island out of the Town!

Food is superb, wonderful bedrooms with excellent bathroom/showers. The Service is very good, nice atmosphere, both staff and bar customers are always very nice, very relaxing and interesting historical hotel, simply lovely place to stay at while visiting Herford.
