Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomGood location, close to railway station, Quayside and town centre. Good facilities in the room (including underfloor heating in the bathroom which was nice!). Room nice and clean with adequate storage. Comfy bed. Friendly staff. The ability to come down and pick up croissants and coffee in the morning was very welcome. The little snack shop was also useful. Highly recommend.

United KingdomThe room was very hot on arrival, and the room temperature control wouldn't go low enough to make the entire stay comfortable.
Easy check in/out. Croissants and coffee were delicious! Fridge etc spot on. Nice selection of ready meals and snacks available. Room amenities good. Great view from the room though overlooked closely by neighbouring properties.

PolandDue to the room placement I couldn't open the windows which was at times uncomfortable - but to be honest I did not ask for a change of the room, so that is on me really.
I really liked the size of the room and the kitchenette placement. Kitchenette had everything I needed and was really useful. Bathroom was roomy and had heated(!) floor :) The staff was very friendly and always happy to help, they made me feel very wellcome. The complimentary coffee and croisant in the morning were brilliant. The location is great - close to the train station (useful for seeing other towns) & metro (useful for getting from and to airport) and within walking distance to the shops and the centre of town.

United KingdomCarpark was quite a distance away from the hotel and there wasn't a luggage room so staff thankfully stored our stuff in the office
Rooms were superb and had everything you would need. We loved the heated floor in the bathroom. Little touches like the complimentary croissants and coffee every morning were great too.

United KingdomIt's such a pity that with parking in the centre being so scarce that it was a 11 minute walk to recommended car park with luggage. That's not the hotel's fault but something to be mindful of for anyone with mobility issues. You could potentially offer a luggage drop off, and had I realised that there were lockers in reception I would have done this and walked to the car park unhindered. The shower was lovely but the style and bathmat weren't really sufficient to mop up all the excess water which meant the tiles were a bit uneven with some grout missing due to continued use and the door stuck a little on them, so could perhaps do with some tlc. Couldn't get the universal remote to work on the TV in the bedroom and the cord on the Roman blind was broken so couldn't fully bring it down over the window.
The location was amazing, the staff couldn't have been friendlier and even though IT issues at check in meant our room cards weren't working, this was fixed quickly before we left to go out for the evening. The suite felt like a bit of luxury for a night away from the kids and the furnishings were modern but comfortable and functional. The toaster was incredible, I wish I knew what it was as I'd love one for home! Reception was bright and welcoming and had all the supplies we needed. We'd stay again!

United KingdomThe bed was very firm and uncomfortable. The location of our room was on the ground level and at the rear of the hotel, our room window looked out into the waste recycling area. Not what I wanted to see when looking out the room window when staying in a nice hotel for our anniversary.
The location of the hotel is excellent and easy to get to from the train station. The room was well equipped and clean. Great shower and facilities.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like. I wish we could have stayed longer.
The gentleman at reception, Tom, was extremely nice to me and my girlfriend upon arriving, which was really nice as we had an incredibly long journey from London to Newcastle! Given availability, we were upgraded and had a fantastic stay. The room was excellent - spacious and very clean - and Tom was fantastic throughout our entire stay & was always happy to help us out, and really made our stay something special.

IndiaEverything was good in the room. However, it would have been great if few things like Shower cap, dental kit, room slippers are provided in the room. When checked at the reception, I found out that they don't have it :(
I stayed for a night in the studio apart with a view and the view was amazing. I enjoyed the sunrise from my bed :) The apartment was clean with basic utensils for basic cooking. The place is 5-7 minutes walk from the central station. I would anyways look forward to book this again.

United KingdomNothing. I was only there one night, but would stay longer next time.
All great - comfortable, warm, friendly, quiet and very close to the station. I think it's worth paying a bit extra to have a window overlooking the Tyne, there's a chair to put your feet up and enjoy the view. Fresh croissants and drinks to grab in the morning. Fresh milk and other supplies from the foyer. Great little kitchen area for drinks, snacks or even a full meal.
