How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

we ate in the river bar and our mains werent great. kids goujons were over cooked and battered fish was wet. desserts were nice. also the pool could do with a machine to ring out swim wear.

The staff were so friendly on both occasions that we stayed until 9 pm and then they really didn’t want you there ! Pity

We arrived just after 12 noon intending on leaving our bags in the hotel and grabbing a bite to eat. Maria the receptionist greeted us with a short "You're too early, check in is at 3pm". We are seasoned travellers, we understand we cannot storm into a hotel early and demand to be checked in while the housekeeppers are cleaning the rooms that guests have recently checked out from. Then Maria noticed from our booking that I had requested a room on a higher floor. This is because I am a bad sleeper and prefer quieter rooms. She just said: "This is a two-storey building, the higher you can get is the 2nd floor". It's ok to assume I had not done my research and looked at pictures of the property beforehand. What is not OK is to be short and austere and communicate information in a way that makes the guest feel inadequate. Only after this and another cold exchange about my request for extra pillows (which had already been replied to from Crowne Plaza staff via Booking.com) did she ask if it was our first time in that hotel and welcomed us. We went to the bar for a cup of tea still afraid we did something wrong, when in fact we paid good money to feel relaxed.
Austeja, the recepcionist was absolutely amazing! My partner and I were impressed with her professionalism, friendliness and warmth. Such a star member of the team!

Breakfast was a little expensive @£18.50 when there is the Lock keepers inn down the road, which we and other hotel guests used.

We were going to Bruce Springsteen concert, afterwards we visited the bar. Unfortunately they had no food except pizza and had run out of crisps. There were many who were disappointed.
Room was lovely. Comfortable, quiet and clean.

Nothing. It was great. I didn’t like having to make a reservation to use the pool. We opted against going as I didn’t want to be held to a particular time.
Refurbished, very clean and well appointed. Much quieter stay than previous times (we had rowdy neighbours on previous stays). Food from room service was lovely, fresh and hot. Previously we had a double with sofa bed and that room was awkwardly small with the sofa bed in use. We had a two double bed room this time and room size was better, but still tight for space.

Location was a bit far from city centre and quite pricey taxis to get to centre. Otherwise hotel was great.

I ask them in previous message before we booked if they would get balloon and cake for my daughter as I would pay extra but they decided to give her a free ice cream, also I was told when I arrived I paid and then I had to make additional payment when I lefted as it wasn't paid then

No TV entertainment options (including even access to Sky, Netflix, etc.). Pool and Spa are dated.
Clean and modern rooms. Staff is very helpful and breakfast was great.

DIDNT LIKE THAT WE WERE PLACED ON THE GROUND FLOOR BESIDE THE MAIN DOOR, THERE WERE TAXI'S AND PEOPLE COMING AND GOING LATE INTO THE NIGHT, HOWEVER WE HAD BLACK OUT BLINDS AND WAS LOVELY TO WAKE IN THE MORNING TO DARKNESS
FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, SERVICE AND STAFF WERE SO FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING AND SO DOWN TO EARTH NOT A BIT STAND OFF AND HAD A GREAT RAPPOR WITH THEM. LOVELY ATMOSPHERE IN THE HOTEL

Location a bit remote. Would need car to get into Belfast. Restaurant food for dinner was average but had good kids menu.

Nothing really - it met our needs for a short stay in Belfast.
The room had everything we needed for our family. Comfortable beds and bathroom with space. We enjoyed the bar/bistro area as well.
