Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomKim was a fantastic host. After booking, I immediately received a message with exact directions, her phone number and a PIN code incase Kim wasn’t around to welcome me. On the day, I called her to ask if I could come slightly earlier and she was more than happy to accommodate this for me! It’s such a beautiful cosy little annexe with everything you could possibly need. I was travelling for work and it was a perfect way to end a stressful week. Kim has thought of practically everything to make the place welcoming, including a stocked cupboard and even fridge. Great Wi-Fi available, and a fantastic selection of DVD’s too! I would only suggest adding an extension cable on the bedside so I don’t have to plug out the Alexa or the lamp to put my phone charger in, but otherwise really happy with the stay and had such a great nights sleep! Thank you so much Kim :)

United KingdomI can’t find a single thing - sorry not sorry 😊
Everything! I mean that. Everyone. Not just the physical aspect either - the whole vibe was fantastic. Home from home doesn’t really do it justice, the place was generously and considerately stocked - food/toiletries/utensils - decorated with Kim’s own art and craftwork, it was sweetest little hideaway. And Kim herself - what a lovely, warm, genuine and friendly person. There if needed (next door) but not ott with it. Just the perfect mix really. She def added to my stay. The bed was also exceptionally comfortable and the location bob on for exploring Snowdonia and around. I honestly don’t have enough space to describe how fabulous this accommodation was. But I will be returning. ASAP!

United KingdomKim gave good directions and description to find her place, though a photo and a What3Words location would be even more helpful and foolproof (for me!) I am used to living in a dark, remote location with challenging parking, and the need for some deft reversing but not everyone is, especially at night. The access track is narrow with space for reversing and the property is about half way along. You can turn near the neighbour's farm at the very end or back up all the way to the main road. I did both with ease in my regular saloon, and managed to fit my car right outside no problem. But it may well be more challenging for those with larger vehicles, especially at night and on first arrival. The local village nearby seemed to have little in the way of shops open late and no pubs etc. But the centre of Canaerfon is only 10 minutes drive away with easy parking near the castle, which is beautifully lit up after dark. Watch out for No Dogs signs outside some pubs. Nearly all pubs are dog friendly where I am from, and of course the pub we eventually decided on, the historic Black Boy, was no dogs, which we didn't realise when we went in, and were only informed about after we had got our drinks and sat down. Fortunately we got away with ignoring the requests to drink outside in the dark and cold, as our little Jack Russel stayed mostly out of sight under the table and no one noticed once the place filled up. But we looked out for the signs after that experience!
The property is in a slightly remote location so only accessible by car, but still only 10 minutes from Canaerfon and the satnav worked fine. Kim was waiting for us to guide us to the parking spot immediately outside, and was most welcoming and helpful from start to finish. The accommodation was immaculately clean and new, and well furnished with a small table and chairs by the window in the bedroom with far reaching views over towards the sea a few miles away and Menai straights towards Angelsey. Our biggest welcome surprise was how well stocked the kitchen was, which was incredibly thoughtful considering I am sure many like ourselves had long journeys to get there and arrived late, and thee are no shops in the immediate area. As well as the basics like tea and coffee, there was bread, milk, eggs, pot noodles, soup, chocolate biscuits, dog treats, etc. The bathroom was compact but had a large sauna style bath and shower. All very modern. I chose the place largely because I was traveling with a friend, and we couldn't share a bed! I noticed from the pictures that the floor was big enough to fit a double camping mattress. Worked out perfectly!

United KingdomSpent two nights here while doing Snowdon. Perfect for two of us and only a short drive away. Everything you can think of is included - internet, TV, DVDs, oven, microwave, hob, basic food items. Great host, very welcoming and happy to help with everything. United KingdomI’m usually very critical with my reviews but I’m speechless on this occasion.
The location is amazing and Kim goes more out of her way to make your stay the best it can be than any host we’ve experienced before. We wanted for nothing, she made the stay personal and private but way always on hand to deal with anything should we need her. It felt like we were stopping at an old friends house. We will definitely stop there again and would recommend to everybody we know. The bed was far too comfortable so we had a lie in instead of getting up early like we had planned. I said I’d take a star off her for that but I think she definitely deserves them all. Looking forward to seeing you next time.

ItalyThe apartment had a compact kitchen with a fridge with freezer compartment, a small oven, microwave and induction hob. There wasn't room for a kitchen sink, however. Our host offered a friendly wasking up service as a consequence, which worked well, but I would have preferred to wash my own dishes.
The apartment was equipped with a wide range of breakfast options, including tea and coffee, variety pack cereals, granola and muesli, sliced bread and jams. The location was to die for! The property is along a farm track with sweeping views from the window across the fields to the Menai Strait and Anglesey. Every evening we enjoyed a beautiful sunset across the sea. There were splendid country walks all around and access to Caernarfon and other popular tourist destinations.

AustraliaI cant rate Kim’s accommodation highly enough. It was an exceptional experience, and felt less like holiday accommodation and more like visiting family or friends! Kim is the perfect host: friendly, welcoming, helpful, considerate and fun! Always available, but never intrusive, she made our stay a real pleasure. Kim’s Retreat is just that: a beautiful part of the world to relax and unwind, but also quite close toCaernarfon and the beauties of Wales’ North West. It offers superb views, and gorgeous sunsets. The accommodation is lovely, beds are comfy, water is hot (with a great bath as a bonus!) and Kim provides an incredible amount of provisions in the kitchen and also for the bathroom. I have never come across such generosity in holiday accommodation. Our stay was just perfect in every way.

United KingdomWas all perfect! Thank you.
Overall a lovely little cabin with comfy bed, well equiped kitchen (stocked with all kind of goodies and essentials by kim that was above and beyond expectations; thank you!!) - Bathroom was well equiped and sizeable bath a lovely relaxation for snowdon. Cabin was fitted with all the mod. cons including storng Wifi, netflix and and acess to music through alexa etc... Location was great. Views over anglesea island were also amazing. Could see sunset from the lounge window with nothing in sight other than rolling fields (and a few sheep) - Kim was also very kind to offer a lovely evening setup of table and chairs to enjoy from outside too, to enjoy the very beautiful sunsets. Perfect for south sides of snowdon (espcailly, although all accessible), and also for caernefon and anglesea. Very friendly and warm host greeting us on arrival but also communicating how to acess property if she was not in. A warm welcome from her dog Cadi, once I'd expressed how much I'd love to say hello! Beautiful views, with lovely sheep, hills and beautiful sunsets for neighbours! Defintely will be back if ever in this beautiful corner of the world again!
