How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Booked the hotel my 3rd or 4th time and the room standard is a but inconsistent given that I paid the same rate every time. My first time around I got a great room with a modern bathroom. 3rd time around the room was much smaller and bathroom not as spacious and modern.
Good breakfast and perfect location. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Always enjoy my time spent in this hotel. Would recommend to anyone coming to Shrewsbury.

There was a humming noise in my room. I went to reception twice as it didnt stop. Third time after about 2 hours i was offered another room, which i accepted.
The location of the hotel was perfect. Staff lovely and helpful. Breakfast great.

Car park is not on site but located a 5 minuet walk away.

I couldn’t fill the bath as the plug didn’t fit. Also the water pressure in the shower was just a trickle. I reported this to reception on leaving and they said it would be reported to,the maintenance person.
I was glad to see that our single rooms had three quarter beds rather than standard single beds. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Great location for old town Shrewsbury. Comfy beds. Good shower. Nice breakfast and bar area in the morning (Didn't use bar in the evening). Free sherry on arrival :)

Breakfast was very slow as there was just one member of staff waiting on the tables.
Friendly staff, glass of sherry on arrival was nice touch. Room was clean and comfortable and well stocked.

No criticisms.
The Prince Rupert is situated in the heart of Shrewsbury and a core part of its history too. Its staff are friendly and obliging. Car parking is offsite but only a short walk away and still convenient - as are the many great pubs and restaurants the town has to offer. It's not the cheapest Shrewsbury hotel but it still represents good, consistent value for money.

The bath plug leaked, but I am sure that will have been fixed. It was quite noisy on the Saturday night; I think from the pub next door. Also, the restaurant was closed which was inconvenient for me.
Lovely old hotel in a great location. Staff excellent.

Small lift, but a symptom of the age of the building so totally understandable.

Room was a little cramped, but was very warm for a winter evening and bedding was comfortable and clean.
Very friendly arrival team, helpful staff. Room clean and quiet. Breakfast was excellent, felt spoilt for choice and everything was fresh and made beautifully to order.

The cooked breakfast could have been better especially the scrambled eggs. Everything else at breakfast was great. Nice quick service
The location is fantastic, love the character of the property. The reception staff were absolutely fantastic, it was always a pleasure having a quick chat with them and made us feel very welcome.
