Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomUnusually for us (we normally stay in the Winter), we found it almost impossible to park anywhere near this time. Not the fault of the host but likely a sign of all the other apartments going up around the place. There was also a fault with the broadband (host left us laminated information in the cottage that it was an Open Reach issue) but it would have been better to inform us of this before we left home or as soon as they knew it would affect us, as we had some internet based things we needed to do all stay and the replacement/interim internet cut out every few minutes which the hosts were aware of. Even despite this it was still a fabulous stay.
Our 3rd stay and would definitely come back. It had everything we could need for our stay. Lovely lay out and facilities, excellent location and very thoughtful hosts who have thought out all eventualities - coins for parking/scratching off parking permits, torches, first aid kit, cereal, shampoo etc. Spotlessly clean as always.

Clean, comfortable and convenient. Very well equipped with lots of little extras like basic consumables like kitchen roll, toilet rolls etc. We found it easy to park in commercial road and then transfer the cars to Wharf Road when spaces became available overnight.

United KingdomI wouldn't change a thing.
The host was very friendly and was very kind to let us check in slightly early after getting off the ferry at 6am that day. The cottage was lovely and very clean. It was very well equipped and the bread, eggs, milk, juice, butter, tea, coffee and biscuits were appreciated. The beds were really comfy and there were lots of little extras like dish washer tablets, washing powder, shower gel and change for parking if there were no spaces with the permit. The parking permit for the 3 days was great and we were able to find a space just outside the property each day. Perfect for a family trip, we will no doubt be back again.

This little cottage, tucked away in a quiet corner was fabulous. It was immaculately clean, well equipped and comfortable. Four minutes walk from the station, buses, shops, restaurants and pubs all close by. Quiet at night and a lovely little sunny patio. It will be top of my list next time I’m in Eastbourne.

A return visit to a beautifully maintained and well managed cottage. Perfect hideaway yet just around the corner from town. Love that there is a bath, especially as you can walk for miles over the South Downs from the doorstep. The fact that some basics and some necessities that are easy to forget to pack are also provided shows the thought of the owners. Spotlessly clean again and an absolutely pleasurable stay. We also met some of the neighbours this year who were lovely and very helpful.

United KingdomNothing ... meets anybody's expectations..... parking was fine but the road needs lighting for night security and safety when waking back late evening.
The location is excellent. The complimentary food parcel was a very nice touch and meet all expectations. Scrupulously clean in every aspect of the property and the cleaning materials supplied were a very good idea and plentiful. All details of a person's requirements have been meticulously catered for ..... down to the point of if you have forgotten your toothbrush and paste ... there is a brand new one supplied ...superb ...like home from home.
