How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There wasn’t anything really to dislike in our room. If anything, it would be nice to have a room rate including breakfast.
Our room was spotlessly clean & had everything we needed for our stay with some extra nice touches. Eg. Coffee bags instead of instant coffee sachets. Packs of biscuits, both replenished every day. The soap/shower gel in-the bathroom dispensers were of top quality & smelt really nice. The bed was very comfy & bedding good quality. Decor in room was good. Breakfast choice was very good & plentiful. All staff were welcoming, cheerful & helpful.

Great staff, very friendly, instant hot water from the shower very controlable, good brand tea and coffee in room, evening meal choice large, breakfast good quality and lots of it, very clean everywhere, good quality car park and the location is less than 10 mins from the town center, Steam punk event was a very pleasant added bonus, and the weather was as good as it gets considering it was February!!!

"Free wifi" is just a personal data collection exercise. Also, the wifi didn't allow me to use my VPN. So I used my mobile data instead.

To be honest I haven't got anything negative to say about the place
Food was amazing Staff where lovely and polite Room was massive and super clean Location was great with plenty of buses to take you into whitby, was also a lovely walk. The hubby was very happy as he could see a screwfix store from the room window 😆 Lovely outdoor seating area with a small play area for the little man. Bath and shower in the room was fab Omg the tea and coffee facilities in the room was amazing the biscuits where lush. Only stayed 2 nights and the room was cleaned on the second day, housekeeping spot on. Booking again with my sister and kids Amazing breakfast and price was fantastic Thank you for a great stay

Only slight moan is the food prices in the bar are quite expensive food is OK though

Have stayed here several times. Like the location, free parking, clean spacious rooms, facilities (having a bath rather than just a shower is great), good choice of food in the pub and friendly, helpful staff. Very handy place to stay if you have things to do in the area but don't want to be right in town and get caught up in traffic and having to find somewhere to park.
