The decor in the room needed updating, the wallpaper was coming off in many places

Relaxing 2 night stay. Leisure facilities excellent and 2 relaxing sessions enjoyed each day. Was not wanting any of the Spa packages myself but I'm sure they too would have been excellent. Catching a bus into York was convenient and saved parking issues. All staff very pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed 2 meals along with good beer and wine at The Fat Abbott each night. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and would definitely consider staying again.

Road noise though gab in window corner missing ,, Broken tiles n grout missing and shower hose dirty , Protruding screws in carpet to tile threshold strip, just sempt a little tired and needs a fleshing up,

We had a little problem with ordering gluten free sausages on second morning - they never arrived and by the time we realised we had to leave to catch bus to connect to train journey.

Room was excellent as it overlooked the grounds. Visited the spa and really enjoyed time there. overall stay was good value for money.

The rooms are a little dated, for example our shower dripped and leaked, and the fuse box had a constant buzzing sound. Could do with some updates but overall the room was great for one night.

We loved the location and grounds, and the facilities included were fantastic. The breakfast and dinner facilities are also always brilliant. The rooms are always spacious and well accommodated. Everything was clean.

Facilities were excellent, pub on site and spa. The pub served good food, well cooked and the spa facilities were great. Our room was basic but clean. We had a room in the back corner of the lodge and it was very quiet

The room we stayed in was large with an excellent en-suite, however the decoration was a little tired and needs some work, it did not spoil the stay for us as we quite liked the character but others may not, very good breakfast lots on offer young staff used and were working well under guidance from seniors, the spa had excellent facilities however we were disappointed in the way these were used mainly by hotel guests we suspect as paying members would know better, main points are poor cleanliness around the jacuzzi area not many cleaners seen members using all facilities including the pool without showering first very unhygienic and all guests should be informed about this the signage is good but ignored by most as I relaxed on my sunbed and observed, I would not stay again for this reason.

The TV in the room was at right angles to the bed so was hard to see. A movable bracket would be much better.

The hotel was in a very good location, it was very clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast. The Spa was also great.

They didn't tell us at check in that you should book the fat abbot for evening meal, it gets booked up so make sure you book a table!

The place is very beautiful and so reasonable priced. The spa facilities are great and we're not busy at all when we were there. There is a bus to York right outside so no need to drive and park. We loved our stay

There could have been a bit more choice at breakfast eg different breads, also some muesli or granola.

There was a lot of black mould on the windows in the room and the bathroom window was quite rotten. The pillows were really hard.

Breakfast was great with a wide range of choices. Room was warm with everything we needed.
