    TV was very small!

A gem of a hotel, tucked at the bottom of Carlton Hill. Short walk to George St and Princess St. Staff very friendly. We would 100% stay again.

Room was small and the shower was a little finicky to work.

Great amenities of good quality coffee, tea and milk. Great selection of television channels on hotel room tv, lovely breakfast and great location close to all of the main street and tourist attraction in Edinburgh.

The pillows were very uncomfortable. Except of that I can't really say something bad about the hotel.

Breakfast was really good and the interior design posh and classic. Personnel was always service oriented and polite.

Pity the lift was out of commission as we were on the top floor but we were pre warned and it wasnt a huge problem.

Quality hotel in a building of character set in a central location. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Would benefit from more modern kettle/facilities in the bedroom and definitely a good cleaning of the windows and corners of the room and bathroom, also clean new shower curtains and a good dusting

Lovely decor full of character without feeling outdated, very comfy, large bed, front desk staff were lovely and polite, even though it was close to the main road it was quiet and peaceful. Location was perfect and close enough to the centre and train station

It looks old-fashioned at first glance, but that's a good thing. Quirky building with very good quality rooms, and the location is perfect--doorway feels like a secret club entrance hidden from the busy street. Lavish pastel plaid fabrics everywhere in the room, and the bathroom tiles were cute and modern. Nice soaps and thoughtful touch of chilled milk in the fridge for coffee. Desk and wifi were good so I could do a little work before wandering the city from this well-located base. Very comfortable if you don't need or want a hyper-modern hotel, but like an attractive room. I would absolutely return.

There could be have been more choice for the continental breakfast but it was nice. My husband thought the full breakfast could have had more sausages and bacon than one of each. Saying that he asked for extra the next time and he got it. My French toast was lovely though.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Clean room, good shower, comfortable bed. The location was perfect. Lovely area at the reception area where you could have a drink and sit by the fire. We asked for a late checkout but they said if we didn't want to pay for that there was somewhere we could store our luggage which we made use of. Saved us £35.

On entering the hotel, unfortunately, reception is still behind a covid screen, which makes the whole welcome experience, well, not very welcoming, despite the staff being great. Toiletries are limited, a bar of soap and 2 small bottles of shower gel. Tea and coffee facilities are in the room and a small jar of shortbread, unfortunately, one of which looked like it had had a bite taken out of it! and the sugars and teabags are just thrown in the holders. A little attention to detail here would certainly help elevate the whole experience. That said, based on price and expectations, we would stay here again.

The hotel is well located 5 mins walk from Princess Street, 10 from the Royal Mile and a 15 minute walk from the Princess Street tram stop from the airport. A lovely fire (albeit gas) greets you on entering, which is welcoming. The rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is good, and the server is welcoming and super efficient. Food travels up or down a dumb waiter from the kitchen and, as a result, is warm rather than hot. Bar facilities are limited.

The mattresses were soft to the point of uncomfortable and the pillows were very thick and hard. This affected my sleep. Whilst the bathroom was lovely in many ways, the actual rain shower didn't produce a lot of water. I would still definitely stay there again.

The receptionists were always very friendly and helpful. It was icy cold outside and always very warm inside. It's nice being able to open the window and get fresh air. The location couldn't have been better, close to everything and yet amazingly quiet. Appealing decor with character.

Shower was just adequate and the toilet seat was very low. I enjoyed my breakfast well enough but my poached eggs weren’t hot.
