Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere are areas of the hotel that need a little bit of TLC but not a lot. The bathroom in our room needed a little updating and the mattress was a little hard for us. The general television was placed in one of the restaurant areas and would have been better elsewhere.
The hotel shows as being a 2 star, the food and staff helpfulness is 3 star, this together with parking and location made our break really good. The staff were very helpful and attentive, especially the breakfast and evening meal staff. I would recommend the hotel.

United KingdomOnly small quibble was that the shower took some work to get hot water out of it and the soap dispensers didn’t work very well, quite a job getting the liquid soap out.
The staff were all friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and very clean, loved the garden , the breakfast was excellent and really set us up for the day! Surprised it was only two star on the site felt it deserved more.

United KingdomThere was a lot of noise from guests on the floor.. not necessarily something that hotel can do much about except remind guests to be mindful of others staying in rooms on same floor. Wifi was quite slow and did not connect properly. To get to the electric wall socket near the bed, had to pull the bed away from the wall. Timing of breakfast was 7.30, which can be tight if you are trying to get a ferry to one of the islands. Description of single room said seaview. To get the view, you had to be tall enough to open and put your head out of the window, so it's not quite a proper seaview. The view was really of the roof outside.
Reception and restaurant staff were great. Breakfast itself was good with partial buffet and cooked to order. Single room was fine. Had all the basics that you needed. The location is up a hill, but close to everything. About 15 min walk to harbour. Bus station is nearby. Lots of retail therapy and good restaurants nearby. Buses are cheap to travel on around the island, although be aware of sunday and bank holiday times, when they operate less of a service

United KingdomThe breakfast area and its team were clearly hardworking; however on some occasions it seemed as if they were overwhelmed. It could take a while to be seated. Then some buffet products would be temporarily out of stock, like Butter, Wholemeal bread, or side plates to carry hot toast from the buffet to the table (I counted 5 guests carrying hot toast in their hands). On one occasion there seemed to be an issue with ordering however we were on holiday, and they were doing their best so we let it lie. In a way it added to the charm of the hotel.
We were lucky to have booked another little gem. We were welcomed beautifully by the reception staff, and our room was fantastic with a stunning view. Dinner was lovely, and many guests seemed to be enjoying the bar and terrace at night. Breakfast each morning was simple but tasty. We really enjoyed our stay. After long days walking, and island hopping, it felt like coming home. Oh, and that garden, what a hidden gem, and the location of the hotel was perfect.

United KingdomThe window had blinds and if the window was open they clanked so I had to sleep with the window closed and that made the room a little warm, perhaps they could put a bootie or something on the plastic roller so it doesn't clank. The water pressure in the shower was really poor, I had to hold the shower head over me otherwise it didn't reach far enough out. The Hotel is a long way up a steep hill from town, I would not recommend if you have mobility issues.
The Hotel is larger than I thought, it is located in a very hilly part of town. My room was on the second floor and there is no lift but I was told someone could help with my case which I declined. The room was a large single, lovely views over the woods and the port. The bathroom was small but had all that it needed. Breakfast was very nice, quickly delivered and was from 7.30 - 10.00 so good if you had an early start. The staff were really helpful. I didn't have dinner but I spoke to someone who did and they said it was really good. The Hotel did have a bar and a very nice lounge area but I didn't use either. When I came to leave the receptionist was really helpful in trying to get a Taxi to the airport

AustraliaWhilst the hotel was close to the town centre and shopping, it was located up a long incline. Fine for walking downtown, but tiring to walk back to.
Whilst the hotel was rated as 2*, it should be 3* as there was little to criticise. The staff were superb , the breakfast excellent and the evening meals delicious. The room was quite adequate and comfortable - perhaps a fridge would be an advantage. The only negative was the poor shower water pressure.
