The location of the hotel is perfect, just at the edge of town and within easy reach of restaurants and things to see in the town. The hotel is clearly dated inside and out and could do with a makeover, but for the size of the hotel, I mentioned that would cost a fortune. The room we had was big and clean and I felt that we got good value for money. The name ‘Palace’ these days might be a bit misleading, but I’m sure it was amazing back in the day.

No plug sockets anywhere near the bed and some of the sockets were of a type I’ve never seen before, 3 pin circular.

How grand an elegant it was and the breakfast is one of the best I’ve ever had!

It has been almost a month now and I am still having issues with a parking fine I got from the hotel even though I paid parking when there. Getting intouch with the hotel to sort this out is a nightmare and all the email addresses I have been given bounce back. I will not be happy if I end up having to pay for a parking fine

Beautiful hotel, loved the gentleman playing the piano in the lobby. Loved the hotel

Id rather pay more to have free parking and the Wi-Fi should be free in all areas of the hotel ……didn’t bother me however it would be such a bonus.

Beautiful building great location lovely views from the hotel. Buxton is a lovely town and the thermal water as warm as my welcome.

Charging for WiFi in the room is old school. Parking space isn't guaranteed even if you pay £5.

Good value room if you're staying for one or two nights. Exactly what was needed. Read reviews and was worried about cleanliness, but the room was very clean.

Noise of the generator outside near our room.

I was expecting it to be dated and unclean but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a bit dated but very clean and well ran. The woman in the bar at night could do with a helping hand but she was happy pleasant and got on with it despite queues building up.

Rooms unbearably hot even with the radiators turned off. No cleaning done during your stay so you have to ask for tea, coffee, toilet paper etc as no one stocking up.

Some of the other hotel staff came across as uninterested and unhelpful, it made us feel uncomfortable and not welcomed. The room wasn’t 100% clean, we found hairs in the bathroom. The fire alarm went off during our stay, so we evacuated using the fire escape, but none of the staff seemed to acknowledge this, we went to reception to explain and they just said ‘oh yeah, that was just someone having a shower in their room’

The building and outdoor areas were amazing, impressive decor in the main reception and leisure room. We also wanted to give a shoutout to Amy who worked on reception, she was extremely welcoming, positive and cheerful, and the hotel is lucky to have her and she will go very far in life

On arrival on going to our room we found it had not been cleaned and the bedding had not been changed. They moved us to a different room larger, but there was a funny smell the first night and the ceiling light sculpture was too bright Do not pay for wifi in the bedrooms because it does not work, also the broadband for the tv did not work and could not get BBCiplayer or amazon to connect

Breakfast was good and the staff were excellent and helpful

The bedroom (318) and bathroom both had vertical hot water pipes which acted as permanent "radiators" (the radiator and towel rail themselves were turned off!) and made the bedroom uncomfortably warm and dry, even with the widow opened all the time to its limit (about 6 inches!)

    Central location, parking, cost

Beds were incredibly uncomfortable, as a hard as concrete. The room was far too hot and noisy from the nearby boiler room.

Decor is a little tired, but not a problem for me. Ate in the restaurant a couple of times. It was OK but not great. There are lots of restaurants in the town.

Buffet-style full English breakfast was great. Bed very large (super-king) and comfortable. Bar has some local ales Location is easy walking distance to town centre.
