The rooms were a bit austere.

A lovely historical location near the stunning Northumberland National park and a wonderful place to stay. Lots of atmosphere. Very warm and welcoming staff and great dinner and breakfast. A really good place to stay. Recommend it!

A mix up over room as I’d booked downstairs room due to mobility problems, and was allocated second floor room. It was soon solved and I was given downstairs room with no hassle

A beautiful historic place to stay. Family run, a lovely friendly atmosphere. Dinner was served in a beautiful old dining room. Food and service were excellent. Breakfast - plenty of options and delicious

The view from the room wasn’t the best. We were out for the majority of the stay so it wasn’t an issue but for a longer stay a nice view would be preferred.

The history and the location was brilliant. It’s such a unique place to stay. The rooms have antique furniture and the experience was great. The staff were attentive and welcoming and made the stay even better for us.

The da utilise were excellent and the castle had a real atmosphere surrounding it. My only slight criticism is that the bed and pillows were rather firm and so I woke up with a sore neck, but that is probably just personal preference

Upon arrival the lady at reception was super friendly and welcoming and made us feel relaxed after a long journey. The castle grounds were clean and provided a lovely place to sit in the sun. The room itself was a nice size, however our bathroom was carpeted which was an odd surprise. The bar and breakfast facilities were great and the staff were always helpful and chatty so made us feel very welcome. The castle even had two cats whom strolled around the property and were very friendly.

Everything was great- but the shower was difficult to get the shower hot. It was quite expensive for one night, however would like to spend more time at the hotel next time as was staying for a wedding.

The loveliest hotel with such friendly hosts. Staff were absolutely lovely. Loved the fact it’s dog friendly, I would like to visit with my dog next time Bedroom was massive, more like a suite. Beds brilliant, felt very luxurious.

Hotel not a pub, so although wine, whisky, and bottled beers are available, the real ale is a 5 minute walk away

It is as beautiful in reality as shown in the photos. Ellie and Alex are so helpful, accommodating, and friendly. A comfortable, stunning location, comfy beds, large rooms, big bathrooms. Fabulous food. It was a lovely 2-day break in the middle of a week's walk. Good pub and beer down the road.

The hospitality was first class the owner and her son were impeccable and made you feel comfortable and at ease. The food was exceptional and the location for the surrounding countryside was ideal. Really enjoyed our stay.
