Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like but only one thing I would say is they could do with a couple more towels as it was cold, the towels were still damp on the evening when we showered again. But that is the only thing.
We loved everything about this cottage. We often visit Tetbury and usually stay in one of the local hotels but this time we travelled with friends and therefore chose a cottage. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous with wonderful decor throughout. The beds were so comfy with luxury bedding. We arrived on the Friday and we actually arranged for a private chef to come and cook for us at the cottage which was a wonderful experience. The cottage is prime location close to all pubs, shops and antique dealers, with a great little market on a Saturday in the square. We will 100% rebook this cottage in the future, we had such a fabulous time.

United KingdomThe traffic noise took a little getting used to. Could have done with a draining board or something similar in the kitchen. Instructions for the microwave but we worked it out for ourselves with a bit of guesswork.
Good location. Very comfortable little house. Lovely and cool in the very hot weather we had this week.

NetherlandsThe bed. For me it was too hard, the pillows too thick. For four adults maybe a bit too tiny, but we managed quit well.
There was milk and wine in the refrigirator and a cake and flowers on the table. That was a warm welcome.

United KingdomIts a little noisy as it’s by the main road but the location makes up for it as you are next to all the amazing shops, restaurants and walks.
It is the perfect cottage. It’s almost film like due to its quaint and comfortable interiors.

United KingdomUneven floors and staircase makes it dangerous for anyone who isn’t a healthy adult. Not suitable for kids or anyone less than mobile. This is in the property description so we were forewarned however it was worse than expected. Also two parts of the staircases where you could hit your head on the ceiling. The kitchen is quite cramped so not really possible to sit at the table
Well appointed and equipped. Cosy place, lots of helpful guidance and instructions before the stay. Amazing location to walk to the village. Would recommend

United StatesWe loved everything but the narrow stairways.
This home was decorated so cute--we loved it! The fresh flowers and cake were such a nice touch! Two of our group are in their 70's so it was a big of a hike up the stairs for them (and our luggage was a bit tricky getting up the stairs). But it was a darling home and we loved being there.

AustraliaParking is main drawback but no big issue . Difficult to get a spot outside the house to unload bags etc. but was a car park across the road
Lovely old dog friendly cottage within easy walking distance of Tetbury . It was very warm and cosy despite the dreadful weather we had at the time . Little touches like fresh flowers and a cake on arrival were appreciated.

United KingdomIt was on quite a busy road but, for three nights, we survived that just fine! The only real snag would be if I had been on my own and not with my husband as I am quite short and could not reach the lockbox with the key in it and you also need a torch to be able to read the numbers. My husband fortunately did have a torch with him! Also, eating in the kitchen could be a squeeze for four people - we were only two and it was fine.
We thought the cottage was very tastefully decorated and equipped. The owners had obviously put a lot of thought into it. It was very conveniently situated and we were able to park directly outside, although there is a dedicated parking space in a Council property opposite but we did not need to use it. It had a small garden and we were able to have lunch out there which was nice. We very much enjoyed our stay in this characterful little cottage, and the owners even provided a coffee cake on our arrival - my husband's favourite.

United KingdomWe loved our stay at New Church Cottage. It’s cosy, clean and welcoming. The two beautifully furnished bedrooms are surprisingly spacious and very comfortable, and the location in the heart of Tetbury but not on the busiest streets is perfect. The hosts have thought of everything, including extra touches like milk in the fridge and a home-baked cake. Thank you. We’ll definitely be back.
