Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHad not understood that those in the double bedroom would have to walk through the twin bedded room to get downstairs. We should have taken the option of using the bed settee. Yes steep steps and stairs in the cottage but that had been made clear.
This beautiful old cottage with so much character had all we needed. The outlook from the garden was stunning and we were able to start out on walks from the door. Milk and cake on arrival. The log fire. Good central heating keeping the place comfortable and the utility room enabled us to dry our wet clothing. Our small car parked easily in the covered parking area. The bathroom will be nicely updated soon.

Highly recommend if you're in the area!! Beautiful cottage- really spacious, well decorated and well catered for. The location is convenient and the host was wonderful. Would definitely stay here again! If I may say, the pictures on booking.com don't do this place justice and would recommend refreshing them :)

United KingdomThe 2 main bedrooms are joined by an open shared walk through area, as we were 2 couples, we opted to have a bed settee set up in the dining room for extra privacy, but it wasn't comfortable, we kept rolling into the middle of the bed, we were glad we were only there for 3 nights. The parking options for 2 cars is not great.
The property had a quirky layout which was fun. It was well appointed, with plenty of kitchen utensils, microwave toaster, modern cooker, etc. The heating was excellent, very warm! We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and chocolate cake. There were lovely views from the garden, but it was not the time of year or weather to enjoy it.

United KingdomRan out of loo roll almost immediately and had to go and buy some!
Lovely cottage and garden view. I booked very last minute and had thought we’d stay in a hotel room. I can’t believe we had all this for the same price or less! It was bigger than I’d expected too and we had a very enjoyable, relaxing stay.

United KingdomNegotiating the steep stairs to get to the loo in the night could have been a challenge but luckily all was fine. Could have done with the heating being on when we arrived (around 17.30 on a dark December evening) but the house soon warmed up when it did come on.
Wonderful location and easy, trouble-free booking and entry arrangements. Quirky characterful cottage, comfortable, fabulous views from the garden. Woodburner was a nice extra although the cottage was warm enough without it. Walks on the Quantocks were accessible direct from the door by going up the lane - stunning countryside with sea views. The village and harbour of Watchet was a great place to visit on a cold Saturday, with lots of cafes and a terrific new arts centre at East Quay.

United KingdomThe very steep stairs inside, my father found them difficult, but we managed. The outside steps need white lines painted on the edges as when you come down them they all blend into one colour. It’s not really a complaint, just a tip as the outside steps would hurt if you misstep and fell from top to bottom..
The View from the top garden was excellent, it was the first time I’ve seen the sun set and sizzle in the sea rather than disappearing behind some hills.

United KingdomThere are lots of steep steps so not easy for some people to get around. Parking off road was difficult, under the bedroom in a car port. Not a lot of headroom for larger cars.
It was a quirky old building, plenty of space with a great view from the back garden towards Watchet beach. On a country lane which leads to a park with nice trails and views for miles.n

United KingdomOnly negative comment relates to cleanliness, grubby loosecovers on furniture, dirty window sills, stair rail etc. A little extra cleaning would make such a difference.
