How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The only thing I was surprised about was that there were some pieces of chocolate on the floor in a corner- missed when cleaning but it didn’t ruin the stay. They’ve just been missed when cleaning

Night receptionist was on phone to a friend, I stood at the desk for 5 minutes waiting to be acknowledged. Bed not very comfortable, quite lumpy. No space in the bathroom for personal items.

Liked coming into the main hotel for breakfast. Very clean.
Loved the annex double room. Unfortunately the bed was not comfortable, neither were the pillows.

Mattress was hard and the parking facilities were terrible. They had hardly any spaces and charged £20 per 24 hours even if you could find a space. We parked at a cheaper rate just around the corner.
We got warm cookies on arrival although one of the computers were down so there was a bit of a wait to check in. The room was nice and thr staff were friendly. Very comfy pillows

The bathroom didn’t have anywhere to put toiletries which was quite inconvenient and the armchair in the room was unsuitable - very uncomfortable

The floorboards creaked. The bath, when taking a shower, felt like it was going to cave in. When we was walking to our room, there were hoovers just dumped in a corridor; duvets and quilts in the corridor as well. The bed was nice, just the floorboards creaked and you felt like the floor was going to cave in. Parking was awkward as well, had to park round the back of the building which was a squeeze to get out of.

No WI-FI available in that area, would have been better if we were informed, we were asked if we wanted to move rooms but declined as only a short stay. We requested a bath mat as we found that the thin bath was a nightmare to get out of because it was so slippy, it never materialised.
Nicely tucked away in quiet annexe room 75. The Italian guy on reception was very polite and helpful.

Shaving light broken. Handle to full-length window broken. Dreadful wallpaper. Horrible carpets. Standard of repainting very poor - especially in the bathroom - should not have been accepted by the hotel. Long wait to check-in and to check-out - only one person on duty (understaffed). Breakfast overpriced and facilities too small for size of hotel which provides (in the lifts) a list of typical waiting times (up to one hour!) at different times of the day and for different days of the week.

Staff were ovely, both at reception and in the bar and restaurant - food was great, we had a nice dinner in the restaurant - the room was cosy and comfortable and the hotel is in a good location and was very quiet

Parking you had to pay an additional £25 per nite Which made it expensive The showers where not good enough for a 4 hotel needed a proper shower is needed the power was rubbish

The room was so noisy, we hardly slept. There was a huge amount of road noise, but the worst was the general noise of the hotel. When people walked along the corridor or above us it sounded like they were in the room with us. We were startled several times in the night as we actually thought someone was in our room, the footsteps were so loud. No food available after 9pm, reception advised us to get Uber eats!
