Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IcelandSince we were sharing the apartment among four, it would have been better if there were other spare keys.
Convenient location, but traffic was rather loud early in the morning which influenced our sleep.

Fabulous location and superb apartment in Ayr. Loved the fact you could walk very easily from train station. Public areas such as outside the property and also shared hallways very well maintained and nice to come home to.

United KingdomThe bedroom with the on suite bathroom, the mattress could be doing with a mattress topper to stop the rolling into the middle of the bed and lying on the zip.
Everything else was excellent.

United KingdomThere wasn't anything to dislike
We all found the property to be of high standard. Well looked after, near all the facilities for shops, bars, train station within walking distance. April was helpful with any questions I had. The apartment had everything we needed. We'll definitely go back.

United KingdomUnwelcoming entrance hallway. Carpets old and dirty. The apartment is tired, needs redecoration throughout and general maintenance. Beds uncomfortable. Very creaky floorboards. Cleaning standards need improved between guests. Photos say it all. Cost £520 for 2 nights Sent private email prior to review but sadly no response. Disappointing.
Good location, well maintained grounds of property.

United KingdomThe property overall is not well cleaned or maintained. The main door is tricky to lock it has to be in exactly the right position for the key to turn. The kitchen was the worst room for cleanliness, the oven was dirty and the grill tray was sticky and greasy. Some cups in the cupboard were stained or unwashed. The kitchen window was thick with black dirt when you opened it and the sealant around the work top was coming away. There were only 4 forks so one of us had to eat with a spoon. The first bedroom opposite the kitchen had cobwebs on the window and the curtains were torn and hung poorly, the bed was uncomfortable and wobbled with every turn. The living space was ok but the sofa bed was like a brick and the chair was uncomfortable meaning we couldn’t really relax. The TV was tiny and sounded tinny so did not make for great viewing and the blinds were all missing the winder to open them so it was either fiddly or you had to open them right up with the strings. The second bedroom was ok but again the curtains were all torn at the bottom and again poorly hung. With a little TLC it could be a nice little apartment. My parents stayed in one of the other apartments and the standard was far higher. As we were only staying a short time for a family funeral and were busy with family matters I did not bother to contact the hosts as there was such a long list of things to rectify we really didn’t have the time.
The property was in a great location, with a lovely view of the river Ayr. The staff were great upon booking and everything we needed for a smooth check in and check was sent over to us. It should be noted that the apartment is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift which wasn’t a problem for us but may be for those with any mobility limitations. The space itself is good for 4 people. A nice touch was the cleaning kit (dish cloth, washing up liquid and a sponge) and tea/ coffee box. The bathrooms were ok too, clean and everything worked well.

United KingdomAbsolutely loved the apartment really modern looking, local to the beach and shopping center so a massive thumbs up the only down fall was the apartment was covered in white dog hair so I couldn't let my little boy down on the floor to play . We only made use out of the 2 bedroom, kitchen and bathroom was gutted when I seen the hair there was loads behind the sofa . Everywhere else was spotless just not the lounge area 😒would love to book with use again . But this review would need to be looked into

United KingdomNo cooking facilities as the oven and hob weren't working, extraction fans in both bathroom's were very dirty. Flushing the toilet in the ensuite made a loud noise so couldn't be used during the night. Mirror doors were off the runners and there was a mess under the sofa as if the floor had been swept and all the mess put under it. Toilet seat wasn't cleaned properly. Being on the 3 floor didn't help as 1 of our party was disabled and had to call to get the code for the key safe and wi-fi. Good value if the issues weren't there which should be easily taken care off.
Nice and spacious and mostly very clean, having a table to sit at for dinner. 2 bathrooms helped but the ensuite could be bigger as wasted space with a cupboard behind it that isn't required. Netflix was a nice addition if you don't have it.
