Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe house was not very close to the centre, but I was aware of that. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the city tram and around 20 minutes to get to the centre.
The room was clean enough, warm, quiet and comfortable. The host was kind and welcoming. Of course there aren’t facilities like you get in the hotels but that is probably what you expect from a shared house.

Czech RepublicThere were shared bathroom and kitchen with 4 rooms, which may be problem for somebody but we were fine with it. I think the price and what you get is very well balanced.
Host was very nice and friendly. He explained us everything and also offered free drinks and snacks. Rooms were very simple and clean. Neighborhood looked safe and quiet. I definetely recommend this accomodation.

The host Michael was very helpful in every way from directing you to local shops etc. To dropping me off at the airport for my early morning flight home. The house itself is very well kept also. There's plenty of options for public transport.

United KingdomWould definitely recommend to anyone who wish to find a lovely home stay in Manchester. The landlord is the kindest and nicest ones you can expect. It was the first time I was on a solo trip to watch a concert in another city and I arrived there so late in the night, the landlord was home and received me warmly even it’s already like 1am. I was grateful and impressed and would recommend to any visitors.

United KingdomThe area seemed a bit run-down and so I felt a little nervous leaving the car outside. The bedrooms were up two flights of narrow stairs, which were not indicated in the description, while the shared bathroom was quite basic. Overall, the place could do with an upgrade in furnishings and decor.
There were all the basic things we needed - three separate rooms, bathroom, living room area and kitchen, with a few extras such as teabags and sugar. We were lucky to have the place to ourselves, even though there was a fourth room that could have had another guest. Also, the wifi connection was good.

New ZealandWe both tried to shove it in, turning it around to fit and it ended up only standing because of how it was wedged in there so tight. I barely managed to get our wash spread out on it which then took several days to dry and broke the rack He threatened to kick us all out due to power and energy costs, that he doesn’t care if we have no where else to go, he doesn’t care if we’ve already paid, the power has significantly gone up and he wants us out. Keep in mind he is constantly there, my partner leaves around 5:30am for the gym, showers for the gym and doesn’t get home from work until 6pm where he eats dinner and generally goes to bed and would only adjust the heat at night on particularly cold evenings and I only spent 3 weeks there out of the 6 week we paid for 2 people. About 10pm that night Sam and I hear loud yelling. He is inconsolable and having a total tantrum. We are trying to figure out if anyone is down there with him and what he may be annoyed about. We eventually figure out that he is on the phone and continues this very loud yelling for maybe 20 minutes, half an hour and we eventually figure out it is because someone used his bowl… A very small issue - he messaged me to make sure I lock both inner and external doors on my way out even though both himself (loudly on the phone in his office) and Kat (in the lounge) were still home. I see it as unnecessary, but those are his rules, fair enough, I will comply. But the constant threat, worry and living on edge that we may get messaged from him about goodness knows what we do wrong in his eyes is just awful. Aside from all of this discomfort, walking on egg shells, accusations, rudeness and horrendous behaviour from our host, we also had a constantly freezing room, we had thin and cheap bedding, we slept directly on springs on our awful mattress and had barely any room for two people to move around in that room. Michael is a horrendous host, a nasty, rude man.
Throughout our stay with Michael at Splendid 4 Bedroom accommodation we have had many issues with his conduct, manner and hosting. The first night of our stay my partner and I treated ourselves to a wee at-home pamper evening and a movie. We had a quick shower and spent some time doing facials and masks in the lounge with a metal bowl I found in the kitchen to rinse out my own personal flannel. We then did a quick foot scrub before a massage (very lush, I know!). Michael came in and had a quick laugh and chat with us saying he hoped I was getting paid for this! All was well. I woke up in the morning to a lengthy, dramatic and horrified message from Michael regarding our using a food bowl to wash our feet, accusing us of being unhygienic and humiliating. I was appalled and offended by this message, however I apologized and assured him that we had showered beforehand and cleaned the bowl thoroughly, not the it even touched our feet but only my own flannel. We tried to move on after this incident but were immediately uncomfortable and on edge with this man. Michael was constantly around, he was constantly making loud phone calls late into the night and keeping Sam awake who gets up at 5:30am for the gym most mornings. One of Michael’s long list of house rules was no noise after 10pm which he never adhered to himself!! I bought a drying rack and came home to Michael sprawled across the couch in pyjamas and slippers and immediately felt like I was not welcome in the space. I asked to put the drying rack in the lounge (there was ample space for a round three drying racks behind the couch) and he had said no, I should put it up on the landing. This landing for the three upstairs room was about 1m squared if that and there was no way even then tall, thin drying rack I bought from Argos would have fit. I asked him to show me where he would like it and he came up to help me shove this drying rack in between about 20cms between a fridge and the stairs banisters.
