Breakfast choice and quality was excellent. Owners very friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Very quiet place to stay and close to centre of Bowness.

May Cottage is situated in Bowness & is two minutes away from shops, bars, restaurants & the beautiful lake Windermere. Simon & Joan were wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. There were great little added extras, packs of tissues, cotton pads, a biscuit jar and not forgetting the complimentary 2 hour pass for the most beautiful Spa which is a couple of minutes walk away which all made our stay over New Year so memorable. And the breakfast was just delicious! I would highly recommend May Cottage. We left yesterday feeling like we have two new friends in Simon & Joan!

Simon and Joan are a lovely friendly couple, perfect hosts. The room was just what we needed, with added extras, plenty of tea, coffee biscuits and milk. Breakfast was gorgeous. We were a couple of minutes away from the village ( No steep hills). We also used the spa a couple of minutes walk away. Forgot to mention how comfortable the bed and pillows were, will definitely be back.

Nothing - it was perfect!

Perfectly situated to access lake Windermere, as well as the towns of Bowness on Windermere, Windermere and Ambleside. Parking at the rear, with Comfortable rooms, with everything you need, including an awesome shower! Simon and Joan were the perfect hosts - helpful and knowledgable. Plus, their cooked breakfasts are gorgeous.

We’ve had a wonderful stay at May Cottage. Simon was very helpful, telling us everything we needed to know about the area, making us superb breakfasts and being a great host who was always in for a nice chat. Everything was great

Joan and Simon are excellent hosts, full of little recommendations for walks food and destinations to visit whilst with them. The room was spotless and had everything in there that we needed for our stay. If we come back up to the lakes, we will definitely stay there again. Best wishes for the future. Breakfast is late-ish (8:45). Totally understandable as everything is done by Simon and Joan, but perhaps might not be suitable if your plan is a early start for a big hike (for example). In any case, not a deal breaker at all.

Fantastic stay at the cottage. Simon and Joan made us feel very welcome and recommended a few activities that we really enjoyed. The rooms were cosy but spacious with a big bathroom. Food at breakfast was excellent.
