How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Privacy screen or nets needed at front windows. Washing machine but no tumble dryer. Very thin walls ( modern apartment)

The pillows were very hard so we used the blankets on the bed instead. It was also quite warm in the apartment which some people may find uncomfortable.
The apartment was clean with nice decor and room for a group of 5 to sit comfortably in the living room/kitchen. The shower was good and there were little extras such as milk and biscuits.

My only gripe would be the lack of lock on the bathroom door.
Property was nice and clean when we arrived, great location only 15 mins walk from City Centre, Jesmond and The Quayside. Bottles of water and milk were left for us, beds were comfortable and access was simple.

Good location, close to the university campus and the city center. The apartment is very clean and has everything you need for cooking. If I have to go to the city again, I would definitely come back.

The location is close to the city centre. The unit is very clean, spacious and comfortable to a family of 5. Everything looks very modern and new. Parking is provided for free. We definitely will stay here again if we stop at Newcastle.

It was a very warm weekend but if you opened windows you got the noise from the road.
The location and the bed was very comfy; I slept really well. Shower was brilliant and things like tea, coffee, milk and ice were available when we got there.

Milk in fridge for arrival would have been appreciated as arrived late . Floors could have been hoovered as a little bit of evidence that someone had recently stayed .There was an iron but no ironing board . Nowhere to hang wet towels to dry . Overall value for money and super location .
Great area for getting around.Easy access and parking was a great bonus . Helpful hosts answered questions quickly . Quiet block and not much road noise .

The living room got very warm and the isn't any blinds on one side where the television is so the sun reflects of it. No ironing board at the property.
Lovely apartment would of been nice to have a lock on the bathroom door and a little bit of a bigger television in the living room. Also maybe have some dish washing equipment eg sponge more than one tea towel.

Bed was too soft for us
Comfortable and convenient for 2/3 people staying in the apartment, enough space for us. Amenities are available for simple cooking. They provided us with some cereals, oats, coffee, tea and a bottle of milk to start our stay. Communication was great from the staff, making self check-in and check out smoothly. They also provide us with all the details in a timely and organised way.

We didn't get the correct instructions to access the flat and had some trouble getting in. There's no dinning table, only a breakfast bar.
The flat was clean and nicely decorated and the location is great.

A lock on the bathroom door was a strange omission! Parking was main reason I chose this apartment but there was no parking available when I got there, it seems a free for all at the back of the dimly lit property with no clear signage and if one card parks in front of the garage door then nobody else can use the other 2 spaces. 70p an hour street parking across the road from the front door 8am to 6.30pm daily
Good location for walking into city centre, some good small restaurants nearby
