Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLovely location, easy to find and very peaceful at night. Other reviews have mentioned a noisy road nearby but it's quiet at night and wasn't an issue for us. Breakfast was very welcome and had all the bases covered! Gloria the owner was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend booking a table at The George Inn nearby for dinner, food was amazing. Would definitely stay again.

United KingdomFew spiders and cobwebs about but with it been a wooden hut in summer I don’t think this can be helped!
Pictures don’t do this place justice, The hut was so cosy and had a lovely seating area in the garden! Gloria had provided everything and more that was needed for the stay! shower was perfect, we didn’t need to use the log burner due to warm weather! Full breakfast provide (bread beans mushroom tomatoes beans bacon sausages and eggs) which was brilliant! The BBQ was excellent too!

United KingdomIt was cold in the hut at night but that certainly wasn't anything against the hosts or hut, simply the time of year.
The hut was beautiful, little touches made it so romantic and comfortable, Breakfast was ample though it was supplied and we cooked it. We managed to book the weekend of all the snow so we used way more logs etc for the fire then we thought we might, the hosts were brilliant about it though, will definitely re-book for summer time.

United KingdomFlooring in the bathroom constantly wet from the shower - combination of inadequate shower curtain and shallow tray. This is an issue the host is already aware of and will be rectifying in the near future.
Nice selection of fresh produce for breakfast all ready in the fridge waiting for us. The host kindly lit the wood burner and turned the lights on in preparation for our later than expected arrival. A comfy bed and wood burner. Cosy, cute experience that we will treasure.

United KingdomJust be aware that it is near to a quite busy road as I know some people want a shepherds hit in complete silence.
The breakfast was amazing! Everything we needed! Much bigger than I thought it would be, everything had been thought out.

United KingdomGarden area not dog escape proof unfortunately. Would like to be nearer next time we visit relatives in Bath. No reasons to not book it for anyone else though.

United KingdomNothing that can be done about it but we didn’t expect the hut to be so close to the road. This wasn’t much of an issue though as the hut is well insulated and the road was fairly quiet.
Ahead of our stay at Lower Haven Shepherd’s Hut I had messaged Gloria asking her not to include any non-vegan foods in our breakfast as we didn’t want to see food go to waste if we weren’t going to be eating it. We arrived and found a fridge stocked full of vegan alternatives to sausages, bacon, milk and butter and two boxes of vegan friendly cereals on the shelf with loaves of bread. Gloria really went out of her way to accommodate us which made us feel very welcome and it made our mornings in the hut all the more special.

United KingdomThat the hut was located near the road traffic noise That the hot water on the shower only lasted a couple of minutes couldn't get a full wash. The outside chairs were nailed down so unable to reposition. Weather very hot, we were given a small fan, but not enough, fortunately we had brought our own , so we were able to tolerate, but otherwise we would have relocated.
There was a field for my dog to run around in, Breakfast was provided, but you cook your own, we had plenty though.

United KingdomLovely hosts. Great Area. Great breakfast. Made very welcome & it was so very kind to organise the vegan food for breakfast, & biscuits for our dog, it meant so much. BBQ facilities were great. Walk to the George pub was a treat as such an amazing place for history & food looked great. Local farm shop superb. Beautiful trees & amazing view of the rising full moon. Would also be great in winter as a lovely wood burner. So near to Bath for trips out & and then a lovely evening relax. Hope to visit again & go to Frome too. Sharing pics of the George pub in the local village as all others have family in them :)
