The fixed overhead showers in the walk-in showers. I would have liked the option of a handheld spray and also a grab rail.

The rooms were lovely. I liked the lounge spaces. Breakfast was good.

I think maybe biscuits in the room to compliment tea and coffee and a bottle of water

Spectacular breakfast well worth the money. Location excellent for train station and only a 15 min walk into the city centre

The experience will be improved when construction is complete, and the entrances and traffic patterns return to normal.

The room met expectations of cleanliness and comfort, the location was perfect, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating, and always had the answers I needed.

the toilet in our bathroom was not clean :( and we had to pay 12 pounds for parking

Renovations are great, the reception area, staircase, bars etc on ground floor were stunning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and the welcome into the restaurant was very warm and friendly.

Chester is an historic small city perfect for a few days' visit.

The hotel was being extensively refurbished, so the normal reception desk and older more traditional part of the hotel was not in use. The website showed twin executive rooms that had two separate beds (rather than a king size made up as two beds but joined in the middle). These rooms were larger and very attractively decorated. I requested one of these as this trip was a birthday present for an old friend. Obviously, they were not available because of the refurbishment and the room we were given was much less attractive, although it was perfectly adequate. Another reason that I chose this hotel was its easy access from the railway station. However, the main entrance was closed and it was not easy to find the temporary reception desk - one of the workmen doing the refurbishment helped us to find it! I believe the upgrade is now complete as we used the main reception desk when we checked out. The public rooms that we saw briefly looked very swish.

The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and a decent bathroom that was well-designed. The room was quiet and overlooked a pleasant courtyard. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful.

1: was located in room 104, there was a door in the hallway right outside of the room which slammed shut every time someone came in, even during early hours of the morning (easy fix by installing soft close hinges) 2: bathroom ceiling had brown water stains which looked like a previous leak, could have been painted over, also toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. 3: Aircon in the bedroom didn’t work however a stand up fan was supplied but did get very warm in the morning.

Nearby to Chester city centre, comfortable beds, lovely decor, friendly staff, little treats left in room which was a lovely touch.

    Nothing!

Our stay was excellent. The family room we had was wonderful as cery comfortable and lots of space and extra things like bathrobes and chocolate that we didn't expect. Very impressed😊 Everywhere was really clean and we had plenty of towels. The shower worked well. The couch was very comfortable as were the beds. The staff were very helpful and friendly too. Thank you. I'd love to go back!

Although the room was large (executive king room no.0410),it was also tired, 2 handles on wardrobe door and drawer door falling off, television remote had a mind of its own,Base of shower tray extremely slippy no anti-slip matt in toilet.

Hotel location was excellent, staff were very pleasant and attentive throughout. breakfast was first class. Large and very comfortable bed. Very clean and tidy Hotel, parking cost £12 per night (24hours), that seems to be reasonable for Chester.

We missed the Victorian feel of the old railway hotel but I'm sure it will be lovely when the renovations are finished.

Great value rooms especially as we stayed on the May bank holiday weekend. The lower priced rooms were maybe because there were building works going on in the old part of the hotel but that didn't disrupt our stay. Our room in the modern block was spacious and comfortable with good views over the city from the 7th floor. Great bathroom too, both bath and shower. Good free coffee in the reception area. We didn't eat in the hotel but the location was close to both the lovely city centre and the station where we could easily catch a bus to the zoo.

With the work going on in the hotel. The trek to the room was not good, up to floor 2 to walk through several corridors, then walk down to floor one. Nothing was well signposted. The bar area, which I assume was temporary, was cramped and canteen style.

The location was really good, added bonus a big carpark on the doorstep. The room was bright and comfortable. The lady on reception was friendly and helpful.

The room was very warm even when turning down the thermostat. A radiator outside the room was on constantly while we stayed there. Must cost a fortune if this is through out the hotel.

    Proximity to the station.

Thought the service in the restaurant at dinner very poor. I would recommend due to the number of errors made with orders on tables around us that the waiting on staff go back ro writing down orders instead if trying to remember them. One of our meals was not hot. Someone on the next table got mains before their starters. Another table had to remind the asitress they had not had dessert they had ordered. It was disappointing especially as the restaurant was not that busy.

We checked in early unexpectedly after lovely man on reception helped us pay for car parking. All staff on reception that we encountered were lovely

    I'm happy with the hotel.

The Hotel is situated across the road from the railway station and has ample parking. Parking is on the expensive side but the site is secure. The hotel is currently undergoing a major refurbishment but despite this are still operating as normal as they can be. A good clean hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast is serve yourself and has everything you need.
