Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceCheck-in was online with a code to open a key box. It was announced by a lengthy automatic message whose title was not explicit. It created some confusion because we didn't expect such an Airbnb-style check-in at the hotel. The full English breakfast is good but not very generous. Specifically, the small cup of baked beans seems lost in the middle of a large plate that's not full. Single-glazed windows close with a simple hook. One does not close properly. The neighborhood is quiet, and the weather was mild and dry; winter or rainy weather might be less pleasant. To strengthen efforts to reduce carbon footprint, I suggest replacing single-use plastic packaged soaps and shampoos with bulk dispensers.
The historic manor has preserved architecture and beautiful stained glass and chimney tile. Interesting information about the Prince of Wales's mistress is displayed on the walls (and in the gentlemen's restroom). Room 10 is large and comfortable, with a window and a bow window. The lighting is pleasant. Sufficient electrical outlets and storage space (closet, commode). You can prepare hot drinks. The bathroom, not very large, includes a spa bath. Housekeeping is done every 3 days (we appreciate it for ecological reasons). The breakfast is in the sister hotel, The Derby Manor, a few steps across the street. It's also enjoyable, with slightly more glitzy decor and a small terrace. Common areas include a salon with complimentary coffee, tea, and biscuits and a separate bar (check the opening hours). The staff manage both hôtels simultaneously. When present, they are kind and helpful. Specifically, they let me take photos of the beautiful King room's stained glass (it was unoccupied). The location is tranquil, in a residential area of the city. A car is useful for finding somewhere to dine (the hotel and its sister hotel no longer provide meals). The value for money is quite good. We enjoyed our stay, visiting the famous gardens of Abbotsbury and Exbury and discovering the Jurassic Coast.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn’t like. The small toilet in the room smelt slightly of urine, we think it’s maybe got into the grouting on the bathroom floor as the bathroom itself was immaculate.
We loved the history of the property, the rooms were spacious and the four poster bed and roll top bath were a luxury. We slept really well, the location is perfect, ten minute walk to the beach, staff are really friendly. We would stay here again.

United KingdomEarly closing of tea and coffee facility and bar but it is understandable and easy access of the sister hotel supplying everything required makes it acceptable.
The historical connection and museum type information were wonderful.

FranceI think like with so many similar places, its suffered after Covid and there were some issues with maintenance , with windows not closing and sadly it was a very windy few days. there was also problems with water pressure in the first room. Having no breakfast room and having to go across the road to get breakfast .
Location of the Hotel was perfect, Its a beautiful looking building with history and has a museum to the orignal owner. Our first room in the attic was smaller, but we had secured a very cheap deal. The second room was so much bigger and very comfortable . It had beautiful furnishings and bed. The Guy on reception was very helpful and kind. He also dealt with a few issues in the first room and moved us without any bother to the bigger room. Parking was also a bonus. There was also a room downstairs with access to hot drink making facilites, and biscuits

United KingdomI would have described our suite as a large room with a sitting area. Some of the chairs were not very comfortable.
The breakfast, served across the road in the sister hotel was very good. We had ample supplies of tea and coffee in our room, but there was also a comfortable lounge where we could get hot drinks.

United KingdomWe arrived early at c. 12noon but nobody available at check-in; I called the number of the sister hotel but no answer. The bathroom / shower room was very very small, even for a shower room. Reasonable value at the discounted price but not at the full price.
The room was fine, but rather small, and the property had character. The location was good and quiet - the garden would be nice in the summer. The breakfast was good for the price in the sister hotel

United KingdomWe stayed in a suite and 2 x TV's were in the room but only 1 remote and this didn't work so not very good, the furniture is very old and honestly needs replacing or refurbishment. The cleanliness of the room could have been better, dust in areas etc. Shower curtain is not very hygienic and should be replaced with screen or washed after every check out ready for next guest.
The hotel location was great for the beach or to walk into Bournemouth centre. The bedroom was spacious and light and in manor with the style of the building. Tea and coffee facility in room was good.

United KingdomAlthough we were upgraded I had informed hotel my husband had difficulty walking and we were provided with a spa bath that neither he nor I could access because of two huge steps and a lip which was needed to be climbed to reach bath. Very cold in rooms. My husband mentioned it first night but nothing was done about it. Accept it was an old property.
Nothing exceptional. Breakfast good - provided in hotel opposite

Only stayed for one night but everything was excellent, room spaceous, bathroom had great shower and spar bath, onsite parking and even though we had to go to the sister hotel opposite for breakfast which was amazing we liked it all. The hotel had lots of history to offer which showed in the decor around the building. Location not too far from the town or beach.

United KingdomIt was really cold in the room, as it is so big the radiator should have been left on low. Towel rail in bathroom also off so the floor was freezing! There are lots of windows but curtains cover them although the morning light came through top windows.
The room was much bigger than we thought, Seemed to be seeped in history. The area was well laid out and was nice to sit and watch tv on a sofa. Bed was beautiful and bathroom very nice and modern with 2 showers in case you don't want to get your hair wet!
