The housekeeping staff have not been well trained, and not supervised. In the en-suite bathroom, there wash no hand-wash by the washbasin in room 5, and by the time I had realised this, the bar had closed (for some reason the bar closed at 9.30pm that Sunday evening). The bath/shower gel dispenser was also more or less empty. The supplies of complimentary tea/coffee/sugar etc, are also very sparse, and you have to visit the bar (a different building) to ask for more. If you take a bath, there are no chains affixed to the bath plugs, and they are difficult to remove, when the bath is full of water. Reception can be slow, as it is in a different building (the bar area), and there are not enough staff who seem to be trained to operate the reception desk. If the weather is poor, it is very inconvenient having to check-in in a different building. Premier Inn offer a better experience.

My booking was for a room only, and hence I did not eat at this hotel. The reception procedure is reasonable, but if the weather is poor is not ideal, as you have to go to a separate building, and check-in at the bar, which can be slow, as there are too few staff. The room was spacious and clean. My room had a bathtub with a shower over (my preference). The staff that I interacted with were polite and pleasant. Prices on a Sunday evening are very reasonable, and there is plenty of free parking. The position is reasonable for access to Derby, or to continue your journey.

You can tell there is new ownership again, the accommodation has had cutbacks and the price is almost double what it was just over a year ago, the online speedy pre-check-in takes longer than checking in on arrival which you still need to do so why bother? only 1 main towel and 1 hand towel in the room of 2 occupants and this was the case for a few guests that we spoke to, Being woke up nearly midnight by 2 disrespectful women shouting and swearing at each other through the door at room 28 I think, I know there is not much that can be done about these selfish idiots but a lot of hotels have a reception with a human which may have been useful. Why are these negatives in the "What did you like" is because Booking .com do their best to hide the "What didn't you like" comments, so they are in both.

I requested a double bedded ground floor room, which was confirmed by the hotel. When I arrived, the person on reception told me that their was no note on my booking specifying this, so something went wrong - I have stayed at this hotel on numerous times before, and this is the first time that they have not honoured my special requests. They did provide a twin bedded ground floor room. The bathtub had a plug, but it was not attached by a chain, and very difficult to remove in a bath full of water. Having to check in, in a different building (the bar) is not convenient in poor weather, and especially if you need any assistance, or additional complimentary tea or coffee, as what they supply in the room, is very stingy.

Courteous staff. Reasonable parking. Good sized clean and comfortable bedroom, with en-suite bathroom including bath with shower over (my preference). I did not partake of dinner and breakfast, and so cannot comment.

Great 1 night stop over to visit family. Close to shopping centre for essentials. Restaurant was good especially the carvery roast of the day. Our room was clean and comfortable with lovely fluffy white towels. Highly recommend 👌

Continental breakfast a bit lacking in available options. Cooked breakfast was OK. There was only instant coffee available. The fact that no fresh coffee at breakfast meant we went off site for breakfast the second day of our stah.
